Yes, I have often heard the early cruise o magic is also referred to as FMX ( which is very similar but actually a later transmission than the cruise o matic.

Some of my old auto transmission parts manuals and repair manuals refer to those COM transmissions as CI units.
CI of course meaning Cast Iron.
Every 20 minute job is 1 broken bolt away from becoming a 3 day ordeal.
