Oil Restrictions To Lifter Galley
« on: April 07, 2026, 11:09:15 AM »
I have been using Brent Lykins video on block mods as a guide while prepping my block .
In the video he mentions putting 1/8 pipe plugs into the lifter galleys with .080-.100 holes to restrict lifter oil flow , he also indicates that the block being prepped is intended to use a solid roller cam .
I have done this mod in the past for solid lifter engines but never on one that is using hydraulic lifters.
The block I am prepping will use a hydraulic roller cam and I am worried about lifter clatter on cold
starts.
Is this mod safe intended for solid cams only ?

Solid cams only.

If you follow that whole series of videos for that build, you will see that it was for a solid roller camshaft.
