Shock absorbers?

Its time for new shocks on the 64 Galaxie. I find everything from regular Gabriel gas shocks to Viking warrior
Coilover conversions wich perhaps is an idea for the front since my frontsprings are tired.
Anyone with some ideas and knowledge about those Viking,Ridetecs, Etc?

I use aldan american double adjustable front coil over conversion on my 66 fairlane

The only thing I was not happy with was they use a 3/4 inch T-Bar and a 1 inch od lower neoprene bushes and in I had problems with crushing the bushes. They did try and help But the things they got me to try just would not work. I ended up fixing it my self by getting some hard self lubing bush material and making my own and I also added a large support washer now I have no problems.

I use koni adjustable rear shocks you just compress them and turn them from soft to hard I set mine in the middle

I get quite good ride quality for a lowered heavy car.

I would for sure go front coilover kit there is a bunch of good options around.

Only thing I would say is set your car up at the ride hight you want and measure front shock length mine would of been better with a custom length shock.

I used a set of Napa coilovers on my 66 Galaxie.  It made a world of difference.  Better tire clearance, ride quality and handling.  I still have the original springs, while i could have replaced them, that seems to be something of a crap shoot too.

I have a set of QA1's on the front of my 64 Galaxie. I just put them on before it got parked for the winter so I can't say for longevity, but I have run QA1's on quick a few cars and generally been happy with them. The Vikings I've used are also decent.

The t-bar mount I'm not a fan of, but I'm not aware of anyone making lower control arms set up for a coilover for the 64's so unless I just up a stock arm I'm stuck with the t-bar style lower mount. I prefer the "uniball" style lower bearing mount to the t-bar. There is a company called PMT that says they make arms for that style coilover mount but I was never able to get ahold of them.

My' 62 Monterey is on air at all four corners, so take my shock recommendations with a grain of salt as the dampening is quite a bit different with air then mechanical springs. 

Front:  RideTech Shockwaves.  Been on the car since day 1, probably close to 50,000 miles - 0 problems.
Rear:  QA1 adjustables.  These have only been on for about two years.  So far they are holding up well.
