« on: October 02, 2025, 02:34:20 PM »
is this dove tunnel wedge style intake somthing that would out perform a stock ford dual quad intake?is it more of a higher rpm intake? say on a 482-520 inch sohc engine for street strip?

I did an SOHC intake comparo years ago, and that intake out-performed the factory 2X4 dual plane from 5500 on up.  I also had a Munro 2X4 intake, which was better than either of them between 5500 and 6500.  The single 4 intakes were down significantly on power, but I got one from John Vermeersch that had been converted to a Dominator flange, and that one was 50 HP better than the other single 4 manifolds.

Sorry but that info is not available at the moment.  The computer where it is stored is on the fritz, and I haven't gotten it fixed yet...

It is highly unlikely to find one at all, let alone reasonably priced. They are very difficult to find and quite pricey. It's the only cast single plane intake that will fit under a hood. EVERYONE wants one...

That seems like a bargain to me considering it's performance and rarity.

so jay and kelly here is your calling lol!

My plate is pretty full at the moment but I'm still looking for someone with an active Cammer build that wants (to run) a single carb or IR Inline Carb system.

Jay, maybe you should enlist those Inlines of yours in some Cammer duty!

Best,
Kelly

Kelly, I am actually planning on that.  Working on the intake design for the SOHC and the tunnel port now...

If you guys are serious about creating a new one, we can probably cast up a handful for much less than $6K each.  If Jay is working on the Inline carb version, I can help get a CAD model going for a 2x4 version if needed.  I just finished a MEL Blower intake a few months ago, so I know it is possible.  A SOHC 2x4 would probably be a bit easier, assuming someone has one we can use to take measurements from.

i think you could sell a few blower intakes for the sohc for sure.also the munro style dual quad intake would sell as well.i dont have either to help out on design but maybe others will have some cad work available.
