428 CJ valve covers

Will the finned aluminum (no name) CJ valve covers clear Harland Sharp Rockers on TFS heads? Thanks, Chuck (S)

I have some re-pop CJ finned aluminum covers and they did NOT fit on my TFS heads with Harland Sharp rockers.

Nowhere near enough room for the rockers.

I have the factory aluminum 428 Cobra Jet valve covers on my 428 with TFS heads, with Isky rocker arms and POP stands and end supports, but I needed to use valve cover spacers to do so. I used a pair of 5/8" thick valve cover spacers from Medice.

Most tall pentroofs will fit, the thicker cast ones may need to be touch-ground in a few spots. 

You can make most anything fit.  As Rory said, you can always add a valve cover spacer, or sometimes I double up on valve cover gaskets to gain clearance.

I ended up using repop Cobra LeMans aluminum pent roof covers.

Had to trim the internal baffle to clear the rockers, plus some minor grinding in a few spots.

They Will Not Clear. However, As Seen In The Attatched Photo, Medice Makes Some Great Valve Cover Spacers That Will Gain You The Clearance You Need To Use The Covers That You Want. We Went The Extra Mile And Machined These Out So They Become Permanently Mounted To The Head And Intake When The Valve Covers Are Removed. Worked Out Nicely. Contact Dan Medice To Buy A Set Directly From Him And Save The E Bay Hassles.

We Used Studs And 12 Point Nuts To Secure The Spacers To The Heads/Intake, Using Sealer Between The Two.

The "Snake Covers Add To The Look, But The Finned Ones Are Just As Nice In My Opinion. The Spacers Are Hardly Noticable. He Makes These In Various Thickness' These Are !" Thick

Galaxiex, Brent, and Woody's, Thanks for the information and pictures. Woody's, did you just machine a "register" in the 1"spacer so the nut would be below the surface of the spacer? With the 1" spacer, do you think the VCs would clear the master cylinder (manual brakes, 1966 Cyclone)? How about plug access with the spacers? Take the VCs off to get to 7 and 8? Thanks, Chuck (S)

I have a 427 FE 68 Fastback. Guessing you will have problems with 1" spacers. Find some pent roof covers. Ansen makes tons or some vintage Cobra lemans. I have one inch spacers on the my real GT 350R covers on my hyd roller 289 in my 65. They use the same bolt pattern and i used studs...Cory
