long battery cables

does putting a solderd splice in main battery cable is approx 14 feet long affect its load capacity for starting the engine?cable is 1/0 size.option is a new 1 peice cable 1/0 for more $$$

My opinion would be a quality repair would not add a noticeable amount of load or loss.  1/0 carries quite a bit of current. Not financial advice.

Put a meter on it and compare the difference in resistance if there is any difference that's where the hot spot will be. Ford Starters can draw 250 amps in good condition.

Also my personal opinion, the ground is the same size, goes from the battery to the block.

If the battery cable is 14 feet long, I assume the battery is mounted in the trunk, if so, extra ground (s) can be a big help. On my Fairmont drag car, I found that the engine cranks over noticeably faster, after I added an extra ground cable from the frame rail to one of the starter mounting bolts, in addition to the ground cable from the engine block to the frame.
