I’ve been watching that add myself. Pretty sure it’s not legit.

That same intake was on craigslist here in Wisconsin.  Same price, same pictures.  As soon as I asked where to pick it up, the ad was pulled, only to resurface a couple weeks later.

That intake was on craigslist last fall in Wisconsin.  Same price, same pictures. When I asked where I could meet to pick it up, the ad was pulled. Resurfaced a couple weeks later, same game!

I appreciate all the responses! I hear what you all are saying and I've put the Edelbrock Performer RPM out of my mind. Here is some build data on my engine;

1. 428 service block .030
2. Scat crank stock stroke
3. Lemans rods C6AE-E
4. Probe pistons -16cc
5. C6AE-R heads with CJ valves
6. XE274 cam
7. Milodon deep sump ( Ford S/S) style pan
8. Holley Street Dominator intake not ported
9. Autolite distributor with Pertronix
10. Holley 3310-1 780 cfm

Can I run this intake as is without porting it, or should I get it ported? I don't plan on any track time with my car, just local street driving. Oh, and the car is 69 Cobra formal roof clone with 9 inch 3.91 rear.

Thanks,
Brian

Can I assume you do not have an original 428 crankshaft?

Correct, I do not have an original crank. Engine balanced externally as built.

I would recommend that you discard the LeMans rods and go with a modern replacement for them.  They are very heavy, and that hinders real performance in most cases.  To answer your original question, there is a whole blog about the offshore intake manifold in the forum section dealing with technical issues.  I recently ported one of those intakes, and just a few weeks ago ported a RPM.  I flowed both intakes before any port work, and after finishing the balance of runners and porting to within a few cfm of each other.  The offshore intake as cast was about 15cfm better than the RPM, but with porting they are equal.  The metal of the RPM is much denser and heavier than the offshore intake.  The RPM flows ~305 cfm average as cast.  Joe-JDC

The only reason I brought up this thread was based on what I was told about my current intake and how it would compare to a Performer RPM. The people/friends that shared input said that the RPM would be better overall especially low end. I have no experience with an RPM nor the Holley SD which is currently on the engine. I trust this forum to always give me things straight............and I appreciate that. The real question for me at the moment is what to do with my Holley SD? Can I use it with my specific build as is and not ported? Or, should I have it ported? Would there be an advantage to the Performer manifold out of the box as is?

Thanks,
Brian

Stay away from the Performer 390.  The Performer RPM is a different intake manifold and flows ~305-307cfm average for all ports as cast.  If your heads don't flow over 307 cfm at your camshaft lift, you would be fine with it.  The Holley Street Dominator also flows good as cast, but when ported can be used on engines that can make upwards of 600 hp or more.  If you have the HSD, then use it.  A new Performer RPM is expensive, even from Summit.  Joe-JDC

I'm going to run the Holley SD as it is. Curious if I would gain anything with a carb spacer?

Thanks,
Brian
