Dyno test on the progenitor of the FE
« on: August 14, 2013, 10:35:28 AM »
I had my Lincoln Y Block on the R&R dyno this week with some satisfying results.

It is a 383 inch 4.06 x 3.7  12:1 with ported stock heads.. 248@.050 .625 lift cam  Hilborn injection.

A lot of old tech in this one

500 Horse!  Attaboy, Royce.  1.3 HP per cube is a great result for the ol' hot rod Lincoln.  Got any photos of the engine on the dyno?

Holy Cow!!! Good numbers! (But then I remember the rumours going around during about 1960 within the somewhat sparse FoMoCo performance community. The only things to talk about were the 352 360 and some work that was being done in Dearborn on the Lincoln engine. At the '59 Nationals a Lincoln-powered 'kit' car did very well in Modified Sports.

What's it going in?

Those valve covers are COOL!  You need to get some bells on those velocity stacks.  Should look good in the race car.  Will you be heading back to Slippery Rock with that one? ;D ;D

If you can get JC to crew for me at slippery rock I will go....

As for bells , I had to shorten some existing stacks since this whole system is kind of a cut and paste deal.  I can only fit a 5 inch stack and the bells would have to be siamesed.. Now if I just knew a guy with a CNC and a lot of design talent.....

Valve covers come from a Continental MK II

Now that is cool!! I love the old front engine rails, and that engine is perfect in there. Looks like a rock solid and dead flat power band right where you want it too! The wheels look just a little out of place though, but I wouldn't kick her out of my garage :)

Very very nice, Royce! It's neat to see the '50s engines make a comeback. They kinda got lost in the shuffle between flatheads and the newer engines.

I Concur on the wheels.  It now has Torque Thrusts on the front and slots on the back.. It's really hard to find a 12 inch aluminum slot with the correct offset

Very cool Royce, both the car and the engine  :). Would like to see a few more dragster pics from other angles.

One question: are the smallish size of those ancient Hilborn throttle bores holding back some hp production?

I ask since IIRC correctly the bores are pretty small compared to later model versions for other engine makes.

Yes the throttle bores are smallish at 2.06   Smallest Hilborn makes currently is 2.375

I was wondering how you got in that thing, but was afraid to ask...lol

And those Torque Thrusts and slots look so much better than the Lites. That is just a super cool car, Royce! What state are you located in? I'd love to see it run sometime.

And what is going on with the hose into the water pump spot on your old engine? Do you have a separate pump to pump water through the engine?
