Rory sent me some pictures of his Fairmont's header setup, I have included his email descriptions and the pictures below. Thanks for taking the time to send these Rory, I'm sure they will be helpful to me and several others working on Fox body FE setups - Jay
The first shots of of the first pair, that started life in Len Schneider's Super Stock GT 83 Thunderbird, with a 428 CJ and automatic. They were fairly easy to install, but hung down quite low, and got scraped several times coming down from a wheel stand. Plus the first 3 pipes on each side were pretty close to the same length, but #4&8 were much shorter.

The next photos are the headers that TomP built for me after the first set basically fell apart from age. These headers did not hang down below the Lakewood scattershield, so never hit the ground, and didn't have any pipes crossing under the oil pan to the opposite side. But these were a real pain in the butt to install. I still have these headers, although the collectors are about as thick as an aluminum Coke can, as we reused the collectors from the first headers.

I bought this pair of headers from a Super Stock racer from Virginia, who had ran them
in his Super Stock GT 93 Mustang, with a 428 CJ and 4 speed. He switched to a 289 SB Ford and automatic, so the FE stuff was laying around his garage until I bought the headers, motor plates, and clutch linkage from him. These are likely what I would use if I even build another FE to put back in the Fairmont. Although that is a lot of $$$ and effort just to be able to bring the Fairmont to the Beaver Springs FERR! You can also see how we modified a factory rear sump 4x4 oil pan and pickup tube from a 391 FT to set the engine down as low as possible with the factory K member. Since I now have a tubular Kmember in the Fairmont, should make going back to a FE a bit easier.
