A little fun - guess the weight of a ‘67 Shelby GT500
« on: August 06, 2024, 08:14:13 PM »
Car only no driver.  I built the car with as much weight savings as I could afford and still be legal for stock eliminator. I weighed the car on digital scales at a local feed store that can also supply certified weights for DMV purposes. I was surprised at the total, Pictures are in member projects.

NHRA factors the car weight based on hp (mine 388) X factor + 170lb for driver.
So my class choices and weight are:
AA/SA  3,080lb
A/SA.   3,274lb
B/SA.   3,468lb

I’ll post car weight Friday afternoon

This should be fun. I have never weighed my car on digital scales but I four cornered it with henne scales at work. It was like 5 years ago and I usually round it off to 3400 to 3450. With your weight savings I’m thinking 3322. Just adding the 2 lbs to be different.
Regardless it’s a beautiful car.
I forgot racecar I would like to lower my guess by 100 lbs to 3222.

I think you could get it to 3120.  We haven't scaled ours yet now that the engine is in.

Yes race car, the reason I was surprised was because when I drove it onto the scale it showed 2,920lb (without driver)
I double checked the scale was reset and stood on it, yep 200lb which is what I weigh.  I weighed it again with me in it and it was 3120.
Surprisingly Mike Brunson was right on except his 3120 should have been without the driver. 😁

Wow that's light! I wonder what ours will be....coupe should be a hair lighter right? If ours was under 3000 pounds I'd be very happy.
