The world would be better if every kid had an Uncle Heo :)

I also have a cousin that is a childbooks author, that kind that want to hug the whole world
She was visiting a few years ago she have a boy that was 10-11 years at that moment.
That was extremly interested in guns, his mother was not that pleased with his interest
My father showed him his gun collection the kid thought he had ended up i heaven ;D

Well like the "instigator" i am  i showed him my 1851 Navy Colt and how to load it.
i loaded the first bore with just a mild powderload and paper the next i gave a full load
and a bullet

I said to the kid, lets go out and fire it. He looked at me as i was Santaclaus
I showed him how to handel a gun and told him to cock it and fire it
Everything went well so i asked if he wanted to fire next bore
yess yess i want to

I told him next round will have a much louder bang and recoil
He still wanted to fire so i told him to cock the hammer and fire
He fired with a big bang, big smoke cloud from the blackpowder, the kid just standed quiet staring
And then started laughing.

His mother came running out with a wild look in her eyes. Whats happening?
Kid standing with a smoking revolver in his hand laughing hysterical

Well i just learn him to shoot a little i said;D ;D ;D ;D

OHHHHH i should have understand not to leave you two together
out of sight >:( >:( Did you got scared Ture?

Nooo mum it was the coolest thing, the bang and recoil and smoke and the bullet hit the water and sparks and fire
Mum i want a gun like that
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've done things like this with most of my grand kids and some of my great-grand kids.

Several daugther-in-laws really aren't happy with me ...

Definitely have to keep the passion alive with the younger crowd.  My son is 8 months old (we had him a bit later in life than most, no regrets) and he absolutely loves loud noises.  If I fire up the Mach 1, or the straight-piped Coyote truck, tractor, chain saw, etc, he goes wild with excitement.  He also goes nuts if I flip on one of the guitar amplifiers, so I'm not allowed to do that if it's too close to his naps or bedtime.

I got double- hooked in 1967. Ed Lowther let me sit in his 427 Cobra, running, at the Glen 500 at Watkins Glen. And I went for a ride in a '64 R-code Galaxie 500

My stepson had a boy 1.5 years ago. Wife was  there this weeked doing the mandatory granny work
First word he learned was Tractor and goes wild when he sees a tractor outside

My sister got a grandkid about two yesrs ago, This christmas he got a toy chainsaw with sound
The next day he was bussy cutting Down the Christmas three.  And he have never seen someon using
a chainsaw.
His first word was also tractor and goes wild when he sees a tractor. They where out walking when there
was an abandened old tractor.  they put him up in the seat and emedeatly he had lefthand on the wheel.
and right hand on the shifter making engine sounds ??? ??? He never saw someone driving tractor up to that point.
If there is reincarnation,,,,That kid is my dad reincarnated

Based upon some of the stories you've told, Heo, you can also teach them important tricks for avoiding the police  ;D ;D
A careful study of failure will yield the ingredients for success.

Good that kid will always want to go see uncle. Next time you can take him to get firewood and do some target practice.

What a great story.

Something like a huge old Galaxie would be absolute culture shock for a kid raised on politically correct vehicles.

I think many of us have benefited from such experience or even just a few encouraging words at a young age, nice to pass it on.

When I was too young to even have a learner's permit (probably 12 years old), no less than Don Prudomme had time to talk with me as a kid, at a car show way up in Edmonton AB; that blew my mind (I knew all about who he was). Also a few muscle car rides from older fellows back in the day, stuff that might upset a modern police officer.
