Integrating alternator kill switch with 3G
« on: January 17, 2024, 03:10:40 PM »
Switching the old 1G in my 67 Fairlane to a 3G unit.
Not sure where to incorporate the alternator shut down wiring. It was wired in to the F wire that came out of the old regulator. That wire is not part of the 3G wiring scheme. The possible new choices are the yellow wire emanating from the 3G loom, the main power wire that attaches to the alternator batt stud, (both of those terminate at the solenoid), the green wire that goes from the 3G loom to the ignition switch or the loom wire that goes to the stator.
The loop that goes to the small terminals on the trunk mounted switch is 14 gauge.

Thanks
JB

That’s a great article Bob. I used it as a reference. It does not address the race car end of things.
Thanks

I think you have to put the yellow wire on the small terminal (non switched side) of the switch.

Howie, I have learned that the green/red wire which goes back to the ignition is the one that should be interrupted by the two small switch posts on the Moroso shut off unit.

Thanks
