498ci FE 4150 vs 4500 Carb Help

Looking for carb input on switching possibly from a 4150 carb to a dominator 4500 carb on drag car combination. Current engine is 498 ci FE with trick flow heads, 12.8:1 compression, custom Flat tappet cam 258/268 @ .050' with .649"/679" lift, trick flow track heat intake with 4150 1050cfm quick fuel carb running 110 octane race fuel. Car launches from transbrake at 3600-3800 rpm and crosses finish around 6,500 rpm. I do not have unlimited resourses so seeing if others have experience with a similar combination. Plan would be to just add an 4150to4500 adapter to current TF intake. Is anyone currently running a dominator on that intake with an adapter? any comparison info you can share? HP change and/or time slip changes? What size cfm dominator would be best? Thanks in advance for any help you maybe able to provide.

Almost every single time I've tried a Dominator vs a 4150, I've been happy with the results. 

I would try a 1050 Dominator with an HVH 4500/4150 adapter.

Is there an HVH adapter brand/model that you prefer with the single plane trick flow track heat intake?

I was on the fence about doing this swap since the intake runners are so small on the TF intake and I was not sure if going up in carb size would actually provide any more air/fuel but I guess that will just lead to more velocity. Just trying to see what all we can squeeze out of this combination.

Is there an HVH adapter brand/model that you prefer with the single plane trick flow track heat intake?

I was on the fence about doing this swap since the intake runners are so small on the TF intake and I was not sure if going up in carb size would actually provide any more air/fuel but I guess that will just lead to more velocity. Just trying to see what all we can squeeze out of this combination.

I have heard good things about the BLP extreme large bore 4150 carbs. No adapters needed.

Dominators are generally awesome.  Especially on large engines.

As for the video above - every time I think I have an "always works" opinion on spacers I get proved wrong.
I have picked up and have lost power and torque on every combination of spacer and intake - you just gotta try them.

I have a 520 cube pro port headed FE in my 4200lb  F100 went from 10.77 @ 124 to 10.56 @ 126 when I went from my 980 Dambest 4150 carb to my 2 circuit 1150 dominator both on gas with my 1” tall adaptor I built… I have a modified Victor intake that is a 4500 flange though.  So I manufactured an adaptor that’s universal and can be used either way… going to a 1250 methanol dominator netted another 1.5 tenths in the 1/8…  picked up half of it in the 60ft… I knew the converter was on the tight side…. The methanol helped it more than the bigger carb I believe. A Holley 8082 2 circuit 1050 is a really user friendly carb on a 470-530 cubic in engine that makes some power IMO. I’d definitely try one if I was you.

That 0-8082 is the Dominator version of a 750 double pumper.
Might not be "perfect" but works damn well on damn near everything you bolt it onto.

     I have modified many 4150/4160 flange intakes to Dominator flange, in many cases removing the if only "for testing" previously utilized adapter, lots of weld-filler material and grinding involved to accomplish the effects one might be looking for, and when I'm done often you can't tell it wasn't cast as a Dominator intake to start with, and in every case the performance picked-up!  8) 

     But this is probably because of the fact that with the elimination of the adapter (which does tend to shroud the throttle bores of the Dominator  ;)) and the modifications to the manifold as it is being transformed into a Dominator intended intake manifold application with the ability to capitalize on the different venturi positioning of the Dominator and the changes made to the manifolds' plenum and transition to the inlet port runners.   :)

     I even did this to a little 302 (yes, really a 5.0 O.E.M. block & crank ::)) utilizing the customers Victor Jr. intake, going from an 850 Holley to a 1050 Dominator, the engine didn't turn over 7000 max., and it picked-up two tenths first pass!   ;D

My little 375 Y Block that I rebuilt after the 2018 EMC disaster where it placed 2nd in Vintage Class made 592hp with 950DP, added a HVH Dominator spacer and 1050 Dominator made 604hp, changed intake to Dominator Flanged intake and 1250 Dominator it made 613hp.  With tunnel ram and 2 860cfm Pro Systems carbs, it made 613.3hp.  The torque was up with the tunnel ram everywhere, but the Dominator matched it at 7200 rpm. The 1250 Dominator ran just fine on the 375Y, and made 21 more horsepower than the 950DP.   Joe-JDC

Not sure what my engines are doing "wrong", but the 428 in my Fairmont ran it`s best drag strip numbers (10.03 @ 132 MPH) with a Holley 780 vacuum secondary carb, and that was after trying numerous other carbs, including 950 and 1050 "3 barrels" a 850 DP, 830 annual , and a 1050 Dominator, on an adapter. The same 780 vac. ran 9.9s at 132 with the 427/454 combo. The current 428 in my 59, was broken in on an engine dyno earlier this year, now, this is a mild solid flat tappet cam, pump gas mainly cruiser type engine, all done at 5400 RPM, I tried both the same 780 vacuum and a 750 DP, the HP numbers were pretty much identical, with the 780 being 1 HP better. And finally, this year, I tried a 830 annular Holley on my 347 SB Ford, that has a Super Victor single plane intake, and AFR heads, that I shift at 7000 RPM, and the 830 ran the exact same ET and MPH as the 750 DP that I normally run. By the way, the same old 780 vacuum carb also ran identical numbers as the 750. (10.0s at 132 MPH.) Not to mention how many Super Stock 428 CJs are running mid 9 second ETs with a 735/780 vacuum carb.
