It will be interesting to see if he has the paperwork too back up the claim.

It's probably worth $billions$.  The most rare car on Earth.  And that's not hype.

I would really doubt, this claim, Fred does embellish  some of his claims, over the years. Considering that Henry II, was usually seen in a Thunderbird, and would not , be caught racing on the streets around Dearborn/Detroit area. Would Henry, have ordered it for a young ,17 year old Edsel Ford II , I would doubt that, too.

Car came through my town a few years back. A friend was moving it from one owner to another. He asked me to look at it. Car was controversial at that time. It probably always will be. I asked my friend what the upshot of car was after it was no longer in his possession. He replied that someone shared with him that it was more likely fake than real. I don’t know who said it or why. I only saw car, no docs.

I seem to recall on the old FE forum, that somebody had a list of all 57 of the 66 427 Fairlanes, and where they went to . It would be interesting to see where this car in question was originally deliver to. Seems that if it was actually Henry Ford 11s car, it would be somewhat well known, kinda like Bob Tascas 427 Thunderbird. Just seems rather odd that this car suddenly shows up now, with such a claim.

Kind of like Mannerheims Mercedes that he recieved as a gift from Hitler Been on several places where they
claimed they had Mannerheims Mercedes. Worst example was a 170D from the 50s

I recall a dark 66 Fairlane in a magazine in 66, black and white pic so can't tell that it's blue but it's lighter than black and darker than most every other paint choice on a 66 Fairlane.

Anyone see the data tag? Should be Home Office Reserve or something.

Yup!  It probably would have been originally built with a 390 S engine code and swapped over in the X-Garage.  There would be very unique goodies all over the car in that case.  Very hard to prove!  I'd be very suspicious if it had the R engine code and it didn't come out of the documented original batch.  Kind of like that famous W-Code Mustang that keeps popping up.
A careful study of failure will yield the ingredients for success.

No engine or trans in it when I saw it. May have had some different color piping on seats. Looked for a SPEC case. Did not see one but who says it had to have one? IF it is a brass hat car there are no rules.

Allegedly and this is all rumor but the car was and has been checked out by those in the "know" and it is not considered correct, or real. Probably as to why Fred was able to buy it. Much like the 66 R code he had or has that was for sale a few weeks back that he said carried both 66 and 67 vins because NHRA made them change the vin. Thats one thing i really like about this and the old forum. At least there people will call BS, where as FB they just oh and awh.

When I was at T&C Livonia, I watched a Mustang turned from vanilla to an all-out road-race Boss 302 in the executive garage. They removed all the 'ordinary' pieces and installed race stuff. This included removing the phony brake intake 'ducts' in the upper rear quarters and doing a re-finish of the sheet metal and paint. A race-prepped Boss 302 engine was delivered on a pallet with shipping tags from Bud Moore. This was a fairly common occurrance at various locations around Metro Detroit at FoMoCo locations.

about 5 years ago at the fairlanes of america meet in tn,i saw a fairlane with the 4 long hood pins,it was for sale 25,000.it had the 427 badges 4 speed 427.the owner was an old man in his late 70s or maybe 80s.i asked him why so cheap and he said so n so said it was a clone.i looked under the rubber on the rad support and it was a r code.the door tag matched too.i told him i think its real and then some other people looked and agreed and he took the for sale sign off.my credit union was across the road from the show.i could have bought it and kept my mouth shut but i didn't.
