‘66 weatherstrip channel
« on: June 06, 2023, 11:06:35 AM »
Hi guys
I know this is a stretch but does anyone have a line on where to find the top of door inside stainless weatherstrip channel for ‘65-‘66 mustangs. I don’t believe anyone repops them so I’m looking for used. Can find ‘67-‘68 no problem. I actually emailed NPD and and told them they should be making them. No reply. ::)
Finally getting interior of my ‘stang buttoned up and this is the last part I can’t find.

I bought some new drip rails from this guy yesterday, "Mustang Parts New and Used" (714) 997-2000 Orange, CA
Older guy, hours not consistent, 9am-5pm. He has used parts available or may be able to locate them.  He's a one man operation with a warehouse full of jumbled parts.

Also try Mustangs and Fast Fords, Santa Ana, CA. (714) 850-1500 They do restorations and may be able to locate some.  (High priced and a little arrogant, but if they have what you need.)

Thanks Mike, no dice on the first guy. He thought that Dynacorn made them, they do not.
In my research I’ve read that a 67 channel can be made to fit the 66. This may be the way to go if it can be done. I may buy one to try it.
On the used pieces, since nobody makes them the used parts when found are stupid prices. I remember before I moved I was trying to find a pair and did locate one at Mustangs etc. in Van Nuys. They wanted 800 bucks for a nasty pair and as I was moving I said no thanks.
Mustangs and Fast Fords is trying to locate but their words were “needle in a haystack”.

You might want to try West Coast Classic Cougar, although Cougars are their primary business they do have Mustang parts cars in their inventory, and I know I’ve seen advertising emails from them mentioning they don’t mind questions inquiring about used Mustang parts. Worth a try. Good Luck.

Not sure on the 65/66 cars but on my 68 Fastback each side has 2 pcs.First pc riveted in and then the channel. On my 67 Coupe it is only one pc..I think you are in for a long hunt....

Agreed
It’s three total pieces the one piece that is available rivets or flat screws in. The channel goes on top of it to the inside and the gutter trim piece connects with the first piece to give you a full width of stainless.
As the guy said, “needle in a haystack”
I will probably buy a 67-68 and see if it can be modified to work.

It looks like the ‘67-‘68 molding is damn near the ‘66 version so I don’t see a problem making this fit. It will just require some redrilling of holes and trimming here and there. Really amazing how well it fits but then we all know Ford tried to re use as many parts as possible so it makes sense.
Anyway for anyone stuck in this same predicament it looks at first fit like the later version will fit the earlier.

Great solution, Marc, glad you rolled the dice on the 67-68 pieces.
