Is that Pushrod cup the correct size ?
Might just be the pic and shadows but it looks large for that adjuster ball end

If you space the stands up as Jay suggested you will gain the clearance by turning the adjuster down a few threads to compensate.  It would be better to throw a few washers under the stand for mock up than to grind on brand new push rod cups.

It's the right diameter (3/8"), but the cups were manufactured pretty deep. About .165 where the old pushrods were about .140. I took the cups down to about .145 and that got me very close. I'll be adding some washers next and see what that does. I don't mind doing a little grinding here and there so long as I don't pop through a casting, but if a washer gets the job done, even better. I should have been a little more careful with ordering, but honestly, even the old pushrods which were way too short were still pretty close to clearance issues.

As always, I appreciate the help and thoughts!

If you raise the rocker arms by spacing up with washers, then you will start affecting the travel of the contact area of the rocker on the top of the valve stem.

Agree 100% with dozz302.
Spacing the rocker shaft up will change geometry.
From your picture - a little massaging of the rocker arm body (where it contacts) is not a big issue at all.
Make enough clearance and then smooth out - done.

One other thing you should check, is to make sure the bottom of the retainer isn't touching the top of the valve guild.

Since you have a stock engine these drawings may help you.
