Any need carb parts.. gonna make an order to Allstate
« on: October 24, 2022, 08:55:33 PM »
Gonna order some clips for the float bowls
.........
Vacuum secodary diaphram clips ( the Holleys ones I have seen are just circles and not E clips )

Any notice if the E clip works as well as the C clip ??
....
Metering block backing plates.. etc
.......

If yall need any parts let me know and I will add them to my order

Shipping is higher that the parts when it is small items

I can send in an envelope, no charge on small stuff

You are partially correct.
C clips are used on newer parts. E clips on the older stuff.
You can use the E clips on newer stuff as well.
Jarrod and Jim are good guys, but buying e clips at 1000% markup doesn’t make much sense.

I buy them from Mcmaster Carr in bags of 100.

Thanks Drew

E clips are .19 cents each from Allstate.. I buy stuff from stuff Mcmaster Carr but never thought to look for tiny clips

I build carbs for Friends and Folks at cruise ins that dont want restored, just idle and run ok

Still try and send Folks ya way but most in my area have no original vehicles that they want some sort of restoration

I’m not concerned with business Ricky, I stay booked a year in advance and never can catch up.
1/8 for side hung bowl float retainer
3/16 for vacuum secondary diaphragm
1/4 to retain accelerator pump lever

I just buy a few hundred and don’t think much else about it. Same with a lot of other holley parts that aren’t really so specific.
Plus I like to spec certain finishes… black oxide looks appropriate, yellow zinc does not for e clips.

I just got an order from Allstate a week ago.  Kits for my two 650DPs I put on the wagon.  I finally gave in on improving on the ol 600s.  I had one 650dp, buddy just happen to buy another one from a buddy that was like new but 20 yrs old.  It was the same dash number as the one I had.

Earlier this year I ordered a big pile of gaskets and fuel bowl screw gaskets.  Never have enough of those laying around when you need one.

Larry, what is the difference between the 2 carbs? Is there an actual CFM difference, or something else?

Yes, the old ones were 600 cfm vacuum secondaries, the new ones are 650 cfm double pumpers.  I need the extra fuel at launch.  I had the squirters drilled out to .089? On the 600s to get it to leave and not fall on its face.  The double pumpers should eliminate that.

I think I could have put stiffer springs in the secondaries to hold them shut a bit longer and muffled the bog, but I think bigger carbs will see an improvement also.

My bad, I was thinking you had a pair of 660's on there.

I thought about it.  I have another pair from a friend.  I made a dyno pull with them but they didn't really make much difference from the 600s.  This is why I left the 600s on the motor.

With the big pump shot I need for launch, I think the DPs will work better.  I have been tinkering with the 660s on the blower motor and I'm finding it can't get enough pump shot either.  I've been drilling the shooters bigger and bigger and it keeps helping more.  I may try to find some DPs to put on it in the future.
