Many here are probably aware, but for any who have missed it, Kugel Komponents is reproducing the “Shorty” FE exhaust manifolds. They have been available for a while now. Looks like they have AutoKrafters as a distributor now too. Price is the same from either source. By all accounts I’ve seen so far they seem to be a quality product, I haven’t seen any complaints. They differ a bit from originals, Kugel removed the bump for the exhaust heat to choke tube, which gives them a clean look and probably helps for clearance on some applications. Kugel also left off the original casting numbers & markings, so anyone doing a restoration probably still wants to look for originals.

Every time Kugel makes a post about these I see lots of people asking about what they will fit, especially non original applications. So far word is spreading quickly that they will work on most FE 2WD Ford pickups, with a bit of minor frame trimming. If anyone here finds any other non stock FE vehicles they fit please spread the word, these would be a great improvement over the flat exhaust manifolds on anything they’d fit, and lots of people are interested, but of course many are hesitant to spend $750 to find out they won’t work for them.

Barry Gaugler used to have an exhaust exchange chart up on his Spookytruck.net website.  I looked for the chart, but couldn't find it.

Hopefully they take the next step and reproduce the much more popular long tubes.

I spoke with Joe Kugel just the other day, and it doesn't sound like he is planning to do the long cast iron headers.  I'm sure the large tooling investment has a lot to do with that, plus limited fitment options for the parts.  He is looking at manufacturing other FE products though, including an individual runner intake that would fit my intake adapter.  Sounds like we may be able to expect more good products from Joe.

That is understandable.
