Vendor For Toploader Gears
« on: August 19, 2021, 09:17:58 PM »
Does anyone here have any familiarity with this vendor (AMP Distributing)? They state "FORGED from SAE8620 steel" and their price and availability is good; I've checked out their website a while ago and found them on ebay. My thought is Kee and Williams don't manufacture their own gears and may be sourcing them from wherever these guys are getting them and adding a nice markup. I don't mind paying more for a quality part, but if it is comparable quality, these guys are $25+ cheaper for 2nd gear.

Allstate Gear is another supplier, but AMP advertises the specific alloy.

Any thoughts or personal experiences?

...well...I was hoping someone had some experience with the above listed vendors, but since this isn't the case, I'll be making my gear purchase from Dan Williams. It certainly isn't wise to put a gear in a transmission from an unknown supplier, and Williams has been in business for years, so I'm pretty certain he would not risk his reputation by selling a substandard part.
