Anyone Have Any RPM Cam 1/4 Mile Results
« on: June 20, 2021, 09:26:55 PM »
Just curious what kind of et and mph to expect. The build is a 401 c.i., around 10:1 compression with 6090N CJ heads (lightly ported with ss vales and a 3 angle valve job) with Harland Sharp 1.76 roller rockers. It has an 800 Edelbrock AVS 2, RPM cam, and RPM intake. FlowTech headers, probably 3" exhaust. T5 transmission (I know it's a little weak. May run a 4 speed-- not sure yet) with 4.10 gears.  Race weight will be around 3400- 3600 lbs. Thanks.

Are you asking about an Isky RPM300 cam? or just in general?

Ron.

Oh I'm sorry. I meant the Edelbrock RPM cam. It specs out at 236/236 @ 0.050", .572/.572" lift 108 lsa.

What chassis? I am not aware of any FE Flowtech headers for a car, and extremely unlikely to get a PU truck that light with a driver. With a T5, and that weight, I would need more information, like does the tracks tow truck have a gas or diesel engine, and the tow trucks gear ratio!

Haha, with my luck I may need a tow to get there. It will probably be a swb 1969 F100. However, I do think I could reduce the weight to 3600 lbs with a driver.

I would put little to no value to those listed weight "specs". Advertised shipping weights are usually hundreds of pounds lighter than what the real world numbers actually are. The shipping weight on my 59 2 door sedan, for example was around 3200 pounds. In real life, on the NHRA certified scales at the dragstrip, it weighed 3750 pounds, without driver. And that is a car with manual steering and brakes, no radio, had no carpet at the time, Wilwood front disc brakes with aluminum calipers, and a FE with an aluminum intake manifold, water pump, and radiator. I used to own a 67 F100 2 WD short box, Fleetside, with a stock 352 automatic, manual steering and brakes, and it weighed just under 4200 pounds without driver.

I can't help on the 1/4 mile times but as a sled puller engine it is a fine combo. Mine is a 428 but built very similar to your build including the carb. I did use stock ED heads with stock non adjustable valve train.

I received a lot of hate on the cam and stock valve springs but it works and will not break.

I have about 35-40 pulls on the combo. Never once did I not pull for any reason.

I didn't have the power of the big block 385's but it was so dependable, that at the end of the season, I was the winner of my class in '15 and '16.

Oh yeah, it has Comp valve Springs. That's a cool truck! It sounds pretty good under load.

Sounds similiar to what I used to have… if you can hook it… 14’s-maybe high 13’s… lot of variables there and info missing. Good luck have fun
