You may have heard this in the past George but have the machine shop pay close attention to the oil galleries off the cam to the head in the D4 block. Those seem to like to crack in there.

Its n easy prob yo fix if you catch it, (sleeve). Check for core shift as well. Sounds like a nice score. I have had a few really nice D3TE and D4TE blocks.

I couldn't wait so I took a few pics of the numbers behind the center freeze plug. 4 & 2 are hard to make out but the 8 is fairly clear. I've never seen numbers in this area of an fe block. What else can it be? Maybe the other side is more clear. Well see after it returns from the machine shop.

I took the block my machinist (Fe guy). He recognized the block immediately. He recommended a sonic check and magnaflux before any work but told me it would be a great start toward a new build if it checks out. Well see.
