If you split a hose and cut a "patch" and strap it to the
hose where it rubs? not that elegant but ...? A quick fix

Heo, I was actually looking at some kevlar materials that would do the same thing, but be thinner and more wear resistant. I just may have found a hose that will work without resorting to that. It sticks out a bit farther than I'd like, but there won't be any fan blades to worry about, so that isn't necessarily an issue.
