Any Drag Week updates?

It's only a couple of months away.   ;D  Not much from me. I'll be taking the Galaxie again in pretty much the same trim as last year. I have only driven the car around the block once this year as all my spare time has been consumed trying to finish my '65 Mustang once and for all. I really need to get it out and do just some basic maintenance on it and make sure it still runs out ok.

If the Galaxie is the ride this year,then,as THEY say you have "Plenty of time"

Running late as usual on engine modifications.  I'll figure out how to make it somehow...

Joel and Kevin are plugging away at their projects. Joel might be a little ahead of Kevin, but I'll still be ready to plug the battery charger in for the GTX...

I'm still hoping to have the '67 Cougar I've been  building forever close enough to done to bring on Dragweek this year, but it remains to be seen if that will happen. It is mostly a scattered pile of parts still lol. I'm trying to make sure I have all the required pieces on hand though, and a lot of the sub-assemblies are ready to bolt on. If everything goes perfectly I think it is still possible, but we know how that goes  ;D. The plan was to power the car with the 427 sideoiler I used to use in my '68 Torino GT bracket car in the '80's, it's been sitting for 25 years. I dropped the engine off to my machinist, along with my tunnel port heads, at the end of April and told him to pick a good solid roller cam for it and freshen it up. I'm trying to do the engine using as many of the existing parts as I can. I've been accumulating this stuff for decades, might as well use them, but the machinist will need to make sure all the pieces will play nice with each other, with more cam than it used to have. He's always pretty busy though, so it's also iffy whether I left him with enough time get it done before Dragweek. I don't have a plan B in place yet, we'll see where I'm at in August before I start thinking about that.

Squeeky wheel gets the grease when it comes to machinist's. Do I need to make a daily phone call to you??? Weekly not enough? LOL.

I'm pretty much ready as is. The only changes I'm making this year is I've pulled out the fold-down seat assembly in my Mach, which shed 65 pounds in all. That should be good for half a tenth ;D  I'll make a small carpeted platform to take the place of the seat assembly so that it still looks decent. I'm also planning on pulling out the heater box assembly to shed a few more pounds and make room for some wiring and relays in that area. I never need heat since it never gets driven in the winter, and the car makes enough interior heat for chilly fall drives. I've been putting that one off because I'm not fond of removing the entire dash assembly. I might wait until I put the roll bar in and just gut the interior and do it all at once, which probably won't happen till this winter.

The only other change is my passenger will be different. My wife is going to be my ride along this year. All I've got to do is teach her how to read a Drag Week map....and interpret it into English ;)
