Spark plug wire kits recomendation.
« on: June 19, 2017, 06:22:25 PM »
I have been getting various opinion on this issue. I have a 427fe stroked to 482. This is one set of wires that was recommended. Taylor 409 Pro Race Spiro-Wound 10.4mm Spark Plug Wires 79665, 10.44mm.
Then someone told me about Taylor 409 pro race universal spark plug wire set #79691 10.44mm. What say you guys? Any other recommedations and price is not a main concern. Thank You!

I use MSD stuff.  The 10.5mm on most racy builds, the less expensive Streetfire ones where we need them to work with factory valve coves and wire looms.

Thank you Barry. I bought your stroker kit for the motor. Can you please provide me with some part numbers? Thanks again.

Going by memory (at home right now) the MSD race set is 31183 - black with multi-angle plug ends and both distributor ends.

I've had good luck on my street stuff using the Ford Racing M-12259-M302 cut-to-length black wires, then using MSD boot kit for the distributor side to fit my OEM plug style distributor cap.  Gives a nice thick wire with each cylinder labeled along the wire.  The pre-made stuff can make the connections but they usually don't dress as nice as when you cut each one to the exact length you want.

Think I sued Taylor 8mm universal on the dragster, would have to go look at the invoice.  I know I'm using their wire management parts.  Picked by price and color blue.  Normally over the years I have run 8mm yellow Accel wires and never had any problems.  The primary color scheme on the dragster is purple and blue, so yellow would clash.   8)
