New tow rig
« on: August 15, 2015, 10:11:32 PM »
I picked up my 2015 SD last night.  8) Everything else I had was at least 15yrs old and had over 150,000 miles so I decided to treat myself. It is about as basic a truck as you can get now days with just a minimal amount of amenities...just the way I like them. It is a standard cab XL with the 6.2L gas burner. So far I am very happy with it. Hopefully, I'll get to put it's towing abilities to the test next month for DW2015!

Nice truck! Bet it was hard to find one not all "loaded up" with options and amenities.

Thanks! It was really hard to find one that wasn't white. I guess they are a hard sell so Dealers usually don't stock them. This one had sat on the lot all year before I finally broke down and bought it. The flip side is they were kind of anxious to see it go so I got a pretty good deal.  :)

We have some 6.2s in our fleet that have over 100000 miles with not one problem. Some of these trucks have as many idle hours as the have engine hours. We use all Motorcraft filters and fluids. The six speed trans works very well even in the hill country.

You will like the power of the 6.2, they are a towing little beast. Here is a sled pull video of my brother pulling in Colo. Springs last week, 299'. Keep in mind, the same Raptor towed his Pro Stock sled puller on the back of a 25' goose neck trailer to the same pulls. It does suck the gas tho :)  Nick
