Noisy lifter

Hi guys
A couple of questions
First one is can I just change the lifters and still use the original factory cam
Second one is how hard is it to change the lifters with the intake still one and is it doable

Depends on the intake - often very do-able.
Distributor hole is a good access point for some, and a great place to put a flashlight in when working on other locations.

I have had good luck just changing oil brands to help with a ticking lifter.

Different brands of oil have different packages of additives and some are better than others I went from Valvoliene to Pennszoil and my ticking went away.

If it doesn't quiet down with an oil change, yes, you can swap lifters.  However, be sure it's not a bent pushrod or somehow damaged lifter.  The noise has to be coming from the plunger bleeding down, not from physical damage.  If a bottom of the lifter is wiped, it will make short order of a new on

I prefer to do it intake off so I can lube them up good, but you can probably snake them in with patience

Man, I hate to sound like a broken record, but make sure it isn't the fuel pump. I watched a guy change a cam and lifters for a ticking fuel pump.

I'd try a can of RISLONE first. It is possible to change one lifter w/o removing the intake, just a pain though.

I'm with Ron, I'd try flushing the system.  Years ago my brother came home with a 67 Chebby with a a ticking, changed the oil ran it for a few days, didn't go away. So we ran some crankcase flush thru it, took about 15 minutes and the ticking was gone.  Of course oil back then was like .50 cents a Qt, so the job cost like 5 bucks....JMO
