Edelbrock Heads Factory Valve Springs With Cam Profile.
« on: June 07, 2019, 07:30:23 PM »
The Edelbrock heads I bought have a spring spec of 130 on the seat and 335 @ .600.
I put my cam card up to see what the peanut gallery says about use of the single spring with my cam.

The springs are up to the task for that cam.

What valve stem diameter, head size, and retainer used?  Stock Edelbrock stuff?  When I checked the last couple of sets of Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, the springs had 140-145# seat pressure which was needed.  I don't think 130# is enough for a 3/8" stemmed valve and .560" lift.  JMO, Joe-JDC

They are .380 stem. I am changing the 2.09/1.65 valves with 2.19 INT 1.75 Exh.  The specs are for the Edelbrock springs for non-roller cam applications. The specifications you provided DD is for the roller cam ready heads.  I am hoping they don't really need to be changed. The springs on the C6AE-R I have now are about 140 on the seat and 365 @.0600. I have sold the C6AE-R heads to a forum member so I will have to pull these if they aren't enough for the cam to be safe to at least 6K

Pretty lazy hydraulic flat tappet.  It will be fine, but if it's a new cam that hasn't been broken in, I would use another spring.

It was ran in on a heavier double spring.  I was debating if the springs are weak. So what is a matter with the profile?

Nothing wrong with it, it's just a lazier lobe, so it doesn't need a lot of spring pressure.
