I'd have to dig to find my copy but I'd think that a call to Earl at 440 236 5139 would have the info coming to you in short order. I wrote it all up for Mustang Illustrated Magazine when I did it and will dig out my copy if Earl can't readily give you what you need.

Warp,

It's not going in a vehicle, it's gonna be a mule for awhile.  I have had my eyes on some '64 Gals and some '69 Fairlanes for awhile, but with a toddler at home, the car budget just isn't there.

That is very unique and interesting. Like what you did for the drain back! Thought about the same thing but using tin in place of. This would be a very neat build. Do you have plans on using the stock type rods or going aftermarket? Just wondering....

Cool project Brent. Since nobody else asked on any of the forums you posted on this, I was wondering why you didn't cross bolt the block? At that power and RPM level you mentioned, it would be a good idea I think. I never did cross bolt my 428 that I abused for years, but should have. I have a 427 block with billet caps now, so mute point for me.

I know the fill helps, and lite weight pistons/rods, internal balance, etc, but... wondering what your reasoning is on this.

Looking forward to hearing more on the build as it progresses, very interesting. Keep the posts coming.

I may at some point.  It did cross my mind, but I have been through several different iterations in my head with this engine, and most of them just involve using the engine as a dyno mule to test out ideas and parts.   I would like to see 600 hp out of it, but honestly, with the lower compression and lower rpms, I probably won't see it.  I do think it will last and not have any issues though.  If it turns out to be a stout piece and I want to have some fun with it in a car, I may pull it back down and add the caps.

Another aspect of it is that I'd like to finally get going on it and I'm cheap.... ;)

At first, I thought to myself that I wouldn't feel comfortable unless it was cross-bolted. But after reading that old post about the guys who were turning their Stock class 352s to 8000rpm (!!!!! :o), and the only troubles and worries they had were about the STOCK RODS, I figured I'd keep my mouth shut because I sure as heck ain't good enough to pull that off!! Sheesh, it sent shivers down my spine just reading about it!

When I was a kid I read somewhere, that when ford was testing the 352 they put one in the engine room, warmed it up, set the rpm to 6000, then closed the door and came back 30 days later. They said that after teardown it looked fine. I always wondered if there was any truth to that, but it sure seems like something ford would do.

My Dad worked at the Lima engine plant and one of his best friends worked in the dyno room there. I always thought that that would have to be one of the coolest jobs to have.
