What gaskets do you guys recommend for tin valve covers on a 1970 390? I need to change mine. I guess it's a typical installation, glue gasket to cover then install?

I use cork and RTV Ultra black.
I also like to put them chev spreader bars on the bottom bolts. You need to drill out the hole
for the 5/16 bolt though.

Thanks.
I considered those Chevy bars. I have some from another project.

X2 on cork and the Chev spreader bars (learn something every day -- never knew that's what they're called). Although it likely makes no difference whatsoever, I also use them on the top middle bolt as well. Regardless, no leaks.

Use the Pontiac spreader bars which already have 5/16" holes.
