FE Technical Forum / Re: FE oil air bleeded valve

Just to add to the confusion. I'm currently building one that had a jiggle pin. It was a complete virgin with a 6D26 date code. C6MEA block with all original Ford internals.

Thanks Ricky. I may have some time this weekend to do some measuring. All I can say by looking is they both have a huge base circle compared to the other stuff sitting on the pile. Later, Travis

FE Technical Forum / camshaft specs?
« on: December 05, 2023, 06:53:08 PM »
I didn't find anything good by searching, so before I set up a bunch of tools and such.... Does anyone have the specs for 330 and 361 ft cam specs. I have one of each and they look really good.  I'm trying to save a few bucks on a fuel mileage build.

BTW Ross, I parked my block next to a C scratch at the machine shop. I'm hoping it will gain some power thru osmosis.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Some 6v questions
« on: January 20, 2022, 01:35:36 PM »
Well, I got kits installed the other night. I even painted them and I feel I came pretty close to the right color/finish. I don't have enough parts for the choke, so I was looking around the internet. I came across a conversation on the old forum about different float bowls with different sight hole heights. Needless to say------there is a difference in the float bowls and I put them together wrong...

Just a public service announcement for those who don't always pay attention like they should. Later, Travis.

No t-bird stuff here--they both have stair step carb pads. I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to take some pics, so I'll try to describe the differences here. Maybe no one else cares, but I found it interesting when comparing the two.

"over the counter"                                                                                                                            "other one"
short chrome oil fill tube                                                                                                                    taller fill tube with a "scoop" toward the front (for less oil mist I assume)
date code is ground off                                                                                                                      2K date code
surface finish is smoother--almost like it was polished but not quite                                                 looks like standard alum intake, but I haven't washed it yet
heater hose elbow is chrome                                                                                                             goldish color like carbs etc
linkage is chromish and different welds at the bellcrank                                                                    goldish
bosses for the rat trap but they aren't tapped                                                                                   no bosses at all
fuel log is chromish                                                                                                                             goldish

I'm sure I'll have some more dumb questions about the carbs. I was thinking about how to get vacuum for the distributor yesterday. Still haven't ordered the shop manual supplement. Later, Travis

Sweet, metering blocks and jets are all correct...Now I just need to scrounge enough parts to get a choke back on it. Thanks, Travis

FE Technical Forum / Some 6v questions
« on: January 15, 2022, 03:17:17 PM »
It's been awhile since I've posted, but it's time to kit and shelve a set of 6v carbs. They seem to be unmolested, but I want to make sure....Should they have 61 jets in the primary and 66 jets in the secondary? The choke is missing, but I think I have enough parts to make that work. Does anyone have a link to the shop manual supplement? The one I did find locked up my computer. I'll buy it if I have to, but thought I would try free first. This will be going on a mild 410 that remains to be built.

I now have 2 setups. I think one is over the counter with everything but the carbs and one is a complete setup from a running engine. There are notable differences between the manifolds and linkage. The fill cap is different, the fill tube is different, the finish on the manifolds and linkage is different, one has bosses for the rat trap but they aren't tapped while the other does not have bosses at all.

I could get pics if anyone is interested, but that would mean going back out in the cold. ;)

Hey chris, this thing sits pretty tall, so I shouldn't need to cut anything. Hey threepedal, what timeframes for the bowtie wheels? I could just buy new aluminum wheels, but I kinda dig the factory wheel covers. Thanks fellas. Later, Travis

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Need to put bigger tires on a 91 f250 4x4
« on: March 15, 2020, 12:13:16 PM »
About a year and a half ago, I found a completely rust free 1991 f250 2wd. Then I found a very rusty 1993 f350 4x4. Next thing you know, I have a 1991 f350 4x4 with f250 badges.  :o So here's my question--I want to put bigger tires under this thing, but the 6 1/2 wide wheels won't allow it. Does anybody know of a factory steel wheel (don't care about brand) about 8 1/2 wide that will allow me to use the factory wheel covers on my 1991? Just trying to save time wandering around the junkyards.  Thanks in advance. Later, Travis

While it has a few more miles than being mentioned here, I bought my grandpas 75 Continental before he died about 18 years ago. It had 53000 when I bought it and I don't think it's over 55000 now. Later, Travis

Man that's nice. Makes my attempts with a wooden dowel, lapping compound and a drill press look awfully primitive.

How big is the bore? Any dyno numbers? Probably made diesel like torque  ;)

Blair, I'd love to hear about that 4.5 stroke engine. I'd be interested in any details you're willing to share. I'm most interested in clearance between the rods and the cam. Thanks, Travis

FE Technical Forum / Re: Taking apart a rusty 391
« on: February 18, 2018, 04:45:26 PM »
They both use the same bore, just like the 360/390. I've been told all 391's were 4 barrels. Fwiw, I own a 4bbl 391, a 2bbl 361 and a 2bbl 330.  Good find on the 428 cores though, none of mine have 'em.  :'( Later, Travis
