FE Technical Forum / Re: Overheating 427
« on: February 10, 2026, 07:01:32 AM »
Setting up the distributor so it has less mechanical advance, allowing you to run more initial advance, will result in the engine running cooler at idle.  Just part of the equation though because I agree with Jay's post about radiator size and condition.

All of the oil goes through the cooler but there is a spring loaded bypass for pressure that is too high (for whatever reason).

I really thought I would find a way to use this some day but it isn't going to happen so I hope someone here has an interest.

Chubb insures collections.  Not sure how they feel about auto parts.

The bearings are gone.  Let me know if you want the ARP main cap bolts and I will get back to you.

Private Classifieds / FE Engine Parts - new and used
« on: August 04, 2025, 04:59:39 PM »
I no longer have an FE (sad) and I am hoping my leftover stuff will be of use to members of this forum.  Some prices are a SWAG so correct me if I am out of range.  I really want to sell this stuff to someone who can use it so feel free to make an offer for a bundle.  I accept PayPal Friends and personal checks.  Shipping is from North Carolina 28721.  Pricing does not include shipping but I use Pirate Ship so pretty good pricing.  Any questions or if you want pictures, email me at jimwoods7@outlook.com

I had a red formal roof Torino GT CJ car.  Love the look and ride quality was excellent too.  I would rebuild the heads and carry on for now.

If we are talking about what I call a "short nose" or "long nose" Autolite, my Sept. 1965 small block car has a short nose so the change was certainly earlier.

Yes, Courtney got her stuff and I appreciate the business from you and her.  I had a lot of good stuff probably sold too cheaply but the goal was to get it sold so no regrets.  I got to talk to a lot of real FE people the past two days.  Dedicated bunch!

Adding a few items members here might be interested in.

I have 3 Stumpys engine cradles.  I think there is one of each design; standard, tall and kicked out.  Your choice $50 each at Carlisle.  The standard one has casters.

FE rocker setup complete (rockers, shaft, etc.) with the discontinued Crane iron adjustable rockers.  Very nice.  $150

Holley jets - very complete set with pairs and some multiples.  Also a lot of miscellaneous Holley parts; two new throttle plates, new hardware for throttle plates, metering blocks, etc.  $200 which I think is a bargain if you can use most of it but will negotiate if you want just parts of the assortment.

Ford Carlisle space A46.

I will bring these parts to Carlisle if anyone shows interest in buying.

Virgin 390 crankshaft; standard - had FoMoCo bearings on it when disassembled.  $75 / offer
C7AE CJ connecting rods, 3 sets, used takeoffs from running engines.  $100/set
NOS LeMans connecting rods, in the box.  Might be the early tall capscrew but you are going to replace the capscrews with ARP fasteners, right?  How about $400 for the set.

I no longer have any FEs so am clearing out my stuff in hopes others can use.

Space A46.  I am taking a lot of engine building miscellaneous like head bolts, crank bolts, windage trays, etc.

These folks have been around a long time and do antique carburetors so you might give them a call and ask.

I don't know why my links show up in ant size print but the website for these folks is DaytonaParts.com
