« on: October 03, 2025, 03:49:34 AM »
My Blower Combo is 10.25-1 I'm running the Blower 8% under and Im getting between 8.5and 9.5 lbs. of boost I have a Comp Magnum 292 605 Cam , I discovered The Magnums use the Old VDM lobes that allow up to .015 over or under the .022 Lash I have Mine at .010 Cold , with the Eld Aluminum heads Im running either 100LL or 93 Pump and Torco Accelerator , 3923 Autolite Plugs 33 degrees Total timing , no sign of detonation Im using Twin 660s that I tweaked over the years with the Ford progressive carb linkage ( this is a 100% PA Street Legal Car ) ok all that said Im thinking of Trying E85 since its now readily available in my area , all the tech out there on E85 Carbs are on Single Carb setups , Ive done the research and I believe I can use the 660s with some minor mods , I converted the rear bowels to their own feed I don't trust the transfer tubes to flow the addition 30% of fuel , Everything Ive researched says E85 and Roots Blowers are a match made in heaven , well Ill let you know , but in the meantime I welcome any Insite on E85 from my fellow FE Guys

FE Technical Forum / Re: Dyno day questions
« on: January 21, 2025, 09:30:06 PM »
You guys are missing an important thing , Todays points are lucky to go to 4800 without point bounce ( regardless of what box they are triggering) yes there are points still out there that will RPM higher ( if the Dist is in good shape ) but the cost in upwards of 35.00 each , Dyno time isnt cheap , I rarely do distributor work with points for this exact reason , a std pertronix will put out twice the spark energy of any dual point setup and will go past 7000 without blinking and will trigger any box put there if you want to use them

FE Technical Forum / Re: Piston Ring Gap ( something new )
« on: January 01, 2025, 03:26:29 PM »
The reason as to why the top of the expander IS Oil Control , since the second is MOSTLY a scraper, The easier to get the oil into the oil grove the better , the gap is typically very tight on the expander rings not being able to handle the oil will unload the seal on the second and possibly the top as well , this was first tried on Blown Alcohol Combos , but seems to work on NA as well

I'm sure everyone here is aware that we gap the second ring bigger than the top , But -- has anyone tried the bigger gap on the Top Oil Expander as discussed by a top Ring supplier podcast , and just for the record , I happened to see the Video right before I was scheduled to gap the rings on my current 671 Blown 390 Combo and I am very pleased with the results

Plugs should of been First , given the Ifo provided , I also disagree with All wires will have the Plasma display , if the do they are leaking energy , and yes electricity is lazy easiest path to ground , and speaking of GROUNDS , to many combos with poor Engine Grounding , when in doubt add another !

I have a free gps speedometer app on my phone , I just compare it to the speedometer indicated speed and adjust drivin gear tooth count up or down depending on amount of error , keep in mind you can only go so far without needing a speed reducer and some combos tend to have shorter driven gear life

you did leave out the factory spacer between the cam and gear , all aftermarket units come as it being part of the gear , that spacer is around .277 thick

What Brent said !!! the gear distance is CRITICAL on Fords you really only have .010-.015 to play with , you dont want it to ram into the block when tightened or constantly be pulled down when its set to short on distance , NEVER Assume
