Listing for a friend a nice 66/67 428 A scratch block for sale. Date code is 6J19 with C6MEA engineering number. Block has had all proper machine work performed and is currently ready to go at .030 over. Has scat crank, reconditioned C7AEB rods and Speedpro forged pistons, no cam. The block was purchased the way it is built, so not certain what the intent was? Regardless, owner has no use for it and would like to sell. At this time I cannot upload pictures to this forum with the computer I am using, but would be glad to text what I have. The block is in the Des Moine, Iowa area. Again, just listing for the owner. Feel free to contact me for any other information. $3500. Fescj428@insight.rr.com 614-626-1144

Private Classifieds / WTB; 69 Cobra (Torino) wheel lip mouldings!
« on: April 29, 2025, 04:28:27 AM »
Looking to find a decent set of wheel lip moldings for my 69 Cobra formal roof project. I would also consider decent driver quality 69 Torino deluxe wheel covers with the red centers. Lastly, kicking around the idea of original sport mirrors, so just let me know? Keep in mind that with any of these parts,  you will probably need to be wiling to ship......unless you live somewhere near Columbus, Ohio.

Appreciate all of you guys very much and this forum! Feel free to call or text direct.

I'm going to run the Holley SD as it is. Curious if I would gain anything with a carb spacer?

Thanks,
Brian

The only reason I brought up this thread was based on what I was told about my current intake and how it would compare to a Performer RPM. The people/friends that shared input said that the RPM would be better overall especially low end. I have no experience with an RPM nor the Holley SD which is currently on the engine. I trust this forum to always give me things straight............and I appreciate that. The real question for me at the moment is what to do with my Holley SD? Can I use it with my specific build as is and not ported? Or, should I have it ported? Would there be an advantage to the Performer manifold out of the box as is?

Thanks,
Brian

Correct, I do not have an original crank. Engine balanced externally as built.

I appreciate all the responses! I hear what you all are saying and I've put the Edelbrock Performer RPM out of my mind. Here is some build data on my engine;

1. 428 service block .030
2. Scat crank stock stroke
3. Lemans rods C6AE-E
4. Probe pistons -16cc
5. C6AE-R heads with CJ valves
6. XE274 cam
7. Milodon deep sump ( Ford S/S) style pan
8. Holley Street Dominator intake not ported
9. Autolite distributor with Pertronix
10. Holley 3310-1 780 cfm

Can I run this intake as is without porting it, or should I get it ported? I don't plan on any track time with my car, just local street driving. Oh, and the car is 69 Cobra formal roof clone with 9 inch 3.91 rear.

Thanks,
Brian

Oh, forgot to mention that I cannot pick it up. The manifold is in San Francisco and I'm in Columbus, Ohio.

It is a real Edelbrock Performer RPM, not a knock off. I can only guess he has priced it the way he did due to the low price of the new Ebay knock off manifolds? Regardless, I'll get some more info. If I move forward with the deal, I would pay him with Paypal but not using friends and family. At least that way I'll have recourse if the deal goes south.

As a side note at this point, I did some poking around and found a nice undamaged Performer RPM intake for sale in California for $180 shipped! Seems like a really good deal! I mean, new ones from Jeg's or Summit are currently $700 dollars. I'll buy it and use it for a future project, don't think I should let it get away.

I appreciate all the responses! I don't have a problem keeping this Holley SD intake. It is installed in non ported form. Can I use it successfully out of the box, or should I opt for porting? It would seem that if I opt for porting, I would need to weigh in cost factor of the porting and shipping. Might get into used Performer RPM price territory? And, just so you know, I am running C6AE-R heads.

I haven't given you folks any build data on my engine, and I will if it helps? But my goal for the engine was a decent mannered 428 with 425hp and 500 lbs tq. The car it's going into is a 69 Cobra formal roof clone.

Thanks,
Brian

Looking into using an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake on my 428. I am seeing a lot of Ebay listings for an RPM "knock off" intake in the low $200 dollar price range. Anybody use one of these yet?

I will be replacing an original Holley Street Dominator intake as I believe the Performer RPM is better intended for my purpose. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the response! I don't believe I've ever even seen a SOHC piston? Do you have a picture? Price?

Thanks,
Brian N
