I'm not asking how to do it. I'm asking if it should be done when NOT using an aftermarket bell?

« on: July 24, 2017, 09:03:27 PM »
Do I need to check the centering of an original cast bellhousing that is on an original cast engine block? Early 70s 390 block, C5AA-6394-A bell, TKO trans
I'm not worried about buying the tools needed but I am worried about doing it wrong or second guessing a reading and screwing something up.
Thanks in advance

Does anyone use the mid shifter instead of rear on their TKO?

I'm thinking the mid shifter would look more like the original position in my '66 Galaxie. I don't have a console or buckets, just a bench seat.

Any thoughts???

Brent, do you need my long shaft back as a core? Do you need measurements from me or is there only two lengths that it could be?

FE Technical Forum / '66 Hood hinge springs
« on: January 15, 2017, 11:24:07 PM »
I am powder coating my hood hinges, inner fenders, rad support, pulleys, etc. but I don't want to have to rattle can my hood hinge springs. Does anyone know what I can use for springs on a '66 Galaxie? I would really prefer to find some repops in zinc. I like the gold/copper look of them. Please help!!!

The price is pretty much the same but I want to know if the clutch linkage lines up better one way or the other? I know I will need to cut my floor to fit the TKO but will the short shaft and no adapter make for less of a trans hump rise???

I'm putting a TKO behind my 445 in my 66 Country Squire with stock z-bar type linkage but it has the trans has the long shaft....
What are the pros and cons of having my shaft cut down??
What are the pros and cons of using an adapter to fill the gap??
Will I need a mid position shifter or will the rear shifter work?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys! If no one else is saying otherwise I will assume you both are correct. Now the tough question......do I just make and inventory them or use this as an excuse to buy that '57 I have been eyeballing....?

I found these in the trunk of a 67 Galaxie but I'm starting to think they actually belonged to something else. Anyone know what they are out of?
