FE Technical Forum / Send Old JJ to Bonneville in the AIR class
« on: June 29, 2021, 09:42:58 AM »
AIR — American Iron Roadster

All of the rules that apply to the FR/GR class apply here, but the engine used must be from a production American car or pickup prior to 1973 with an iron block and cylinder head. Welding or brazing is only allowed on the block or head for the purpose of repair, so exotic port rerouting is out of the question. The only engine class in AIR is C, so maximum engine displacement is 373.99 cubic inches. Electronic fuel injection, computer controlled ignition, and data collection methods are all prohibited.

Both were delivered new in a 1966 F250. Package deal considered. Local pickup or meet in DFW at a swap meet or like event.

Totally ditto on the NV4500: Granny low for the boat ramp situation which can get dicey, and an OD for the hwy all in a HD unit that you know will hold up. It will drive like a new truck with 5 gear choices.

James Butler and Wife Inez of Morton, TX held several NHRA National Records in A/GS with a blown MEL built by Butler and Howard Johanson of Howards cams.

I have inspected these very very thoroughly with my 3.0 reading glasses and I am now convinced you guys were right, these are used heads that someone must have spent a lot of time on to make them appear NOS. That's all I can figure out.

I very much desire to represent these heads for what they truly are. I will not hide any reasonable issues that come up about these heads. I do not desire to deal with an unhappy purchaser.

I am willing to provide very detailed close up pics to interested purchasers or to those who have the expertise to help with any questions.
