Title: Rocker arm oil lines
Post by: fekbmax on March 02, 2016, 09:52:38 PM
I have had all kinds of FE/FT bus engines apart and never seen one of these. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=221910215113&alt=web

That is a rare find, something out of the old J.C. Whitney era (Chicago retailer of car parts) where somebody engineered a 'fix' for something that wasn't really in need of fixing!

Kinda' cool though, like muffler bearings!

I seem to remember that was a fix for Y-Blocks, due to crummy non-detergent oil and marginal oil feeds to the rocker shafts.  I've never heard of FE's needing such a thing.  It's usually the opposite problem!

Mmmm, yeah Bill, when was the last time you heard "Ohh gee, I wish I had more oil getting to the top end."  on an FE?

That ad looks to be mislabeled as that's an overhead oiler for a Y-Block.  If you blow up the label on the box, you'll see where it's listed for Ford and Mercury applications along with the year models.  Ted Eaton.

I'm with Bill---
This was a common 'fix' on Y-blocks.
