I may actually get to go this year, if I can talk myself into the drive. Doug, how about an explanation of the classes? Are these all bracket races? How is "Pro FE" defined?
-
Jay,
It's pretty simple. It's bracket racing. All cars do time shots. The fastest 8 run for "Pro FE". First round loser can drop and run in "Hot FE". "Hot FE" cars are all other cars 11.99 or quicker. "Cool FE" cars are 12.00 or slower. If there is a huge amount of cars in one class we reserve the right to adjust the ET's to make bot classes more even. So far it has not been an issue. It's there just in case. No driver aids or electronica are allowed. Other than that just one rule. It must be an FE (FT included). Here is something from our website:
Pro FE (Quick 8 )
Winner - $500 & trophy
Runner-Up - $250 & trophy
Semifinalist - $100
1st round eliminated - $50
Hot FE (*11.99 - quicker)
Winner - $300 & trophy
Runner-Up - $150 & trophy
Semifinalist - $50
Quarter finals - $25
Cool FE (*12.00 - slower)
Winner - $250 & trophy
Runner-Up - $150 & trophy
Semifinalist - $50
Quarter finals - $25
Thanks!

Jay, you just gotta come. Most fun I had in years, despite having the slowest & ugliest car there.

Two step rev limiter aloud in pro-FE ?

All you need to do is get your car to Ohio. I can take it from there. It'll save you a lot of driving.

Funny, I've got that same offer from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana... ;D

I would love to go, but... can't really justify the 4800 plus mile tow. The worst part would be taking all those days off just driving there and back, for a 1 1/2 day event. I don't have vacation time, so if I am not working, and I am going somewhere and/or having fun... it costs me DOUBLE! >:(
I can race at 7 different tracks in 3 states plus BC Canada, probably 2 times each and not have to travel much more than 1/2 the miles of one trip to Beaver Springs. Yes I realize there may only be hand full of FE's present at these "local" races, or up to 19 one time, but still.
I sure wish it was more central in the US, instead of so far East. I realize there are probably more FE cars that direction, but to be fair... if it could be more central and/or be on the west coast odd years or move around the country a little it would be good for everyone.
Has anyone ever thought of holding the event somewhere else one year and then back to Beaver every other year or something like that?

I am trying to get my dad with his 9sec 69 Mach 1 and Ray Paquet with his 64 Thunderbolt to go this year. Crossing my fingers.

Agreed. I really, really, REALLY want to go, but the trip isn't quite feasible. How about right in the middle with Byron or Cordova Illinois? I think I could make that trip. ;D

How about two races, spring in the east like it is and fall out west.

I think it was just started by some longtime forum members just for the opportunity to get together. I would have picked someplace close to home also. The idea of an "official" FE reunion was not the intent, it's just kind of seen that way because there really aren't any others. I went to the actual first FE Forum get-together years ago in Oklahoma (I think it was 12 or 13 years ago). It was the same deal, just a local event that drew a lot of people just because there were no others. It grew quickly that year to include the largest ever, for then, collection of original Thunderbolts. It was a cool event but didn't last long because most of the work was done by one person and it was a lot to handle. We're a desperate type ;D
I think it'd be cool if there were others on the west coast or central states.

Jay, ya gotta go, Its a great time and a lot of fast cars. I`ve met a lot of people from both forums and got to rub elbows with the Greats of the past. Now if I can just get the Tbolt wagon done!

Going to the FE Race and Reunion was at the top of my "bucket list" when I retired and I went last year. It was fantastic. Now the "bucket list" says attend the FE Race and Reunion every year. See you all in April!

That is ok, Delay boxes/throttle stops are what we want to prevent.
-
Kearney Nebraska is about the best split between coasts if any one cares.

I will have 2016 Race & Reunion flyers at the Columbus Super Swap Saturday. If you would like some and will be vending there let me know and I'll drop them off to you. Just let me know where your space is located.
-
Is the swap meet both days or just saterday and does the cost include entry for one person ?
-
Swap is both days and the cost does include admission.

Been there the last 2 years, can't make it fit in this go around >:(. It's a great time with lots of great folks, I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't been there. Just get to one and you're hooked on this event.
