« on: July 14, 2017, 06:25:26 PM »
Barry has two and doesn't Blair or someone else also have a book ?
If you bought one, which would you choose ?

Buy them all, books are cheap compared to what an engine will cost you.

For stock engine info:  Steve Christ book
For basic performance info:  Barry R's book
For intake/header/etc dyno info: Jay Brown's book
For historical info: Charlie Morris's books (there are a few)

I can second Steve Christ's book. I have it and it's a good read for the novice like me.

Personally the Christ book is OK but I've found errors time after time. I like it for a basis of what to look for,
Just yeaterday I wanted to find the various FE & FT crankshaft casting #. It did verify what I wanted. Also wanted the C7TE and 3U codes  as well as std. measurements.
I use it as a very basic reference. For more exact FE info I've got both Barry's and Jay's book.

I was very happy with Barry's book and would recommend it. He shows most all of the available aftermarket parts for the FE and details them nicely. Most of us don't have a stash of original parts so a good look at the aftermarket parts was a real plus. Also a lot of no nonsense straight forward engine building information. Great book at the top of my favorites pile!!

The book I got from Barry had a centerfold in it with Barry laying naked on a bear skin rug. I thought they all came that way, maybe I got a special deal?

Too late, some things you just can't un-see  ;D.  I used Barry's book for my build and found it served me well.  If you don't put FE's together every day it's especially helpful in areas where particular attention needs to be paid due to the nature of the engine.  Sure am glad I didn't get the centerfold tho----
