Bob, I am planning to run my top end package with the RE exhaust ports in this car, and take it to Drag Week at some point, probably 2024. First it is going to a friend of mine in Idaho, who is fairly close to the car and will be picking it up and bringing it back to his shop. He will be doing bodywork and paint. The paint job will either be a love it or hate it thing for most people, I think. For a long time I've wanted to paint a car to reflect a World War II aircraft paint scheme, so I'm going to do that on this car. I'm looking at two different paint schemes, either from an Avro Lancaster in the RAF, or a P-51 Mustang from the USAAF. Pictures I'm looking at are below. The Mustang scheme would be really gaudy, maybe too "out there" with a black and white checkerboard dominating the front half of the car. But it looks cool, so I don't know. I could replace all the swastikas shown under the cockpit with Chevy bowties on the door, but I'm liable to get beat up if I do that
I like the Lancaster because with the lower half black, it would really show off some nose art (which I have some good ideas for, think Vargas girls...). The top half camouflaged paint is something I like too. I'm going to be thinking about this for a while. By the way, if anybody else has a WW2 aircraft paint job that they think would look good on a car, post a picture! I've got some time to decide...
