Fel-Pro 9781 Intake gaskets - never hear much about them?
« on: September 17, 2024, 06:32:32 PM »
I have a number of new Fel-Pro 9781 intake gaskets. I am going to use a set on a 390 that was once in my '66 Fairlane and drop it into my '78 F150. Comparing them to the Cometic's that I use on my 427/484 they are pretty similar. The ports are actually a tad larger. They are .043 thk. and the Cometics I use are .039. Maybe I give these a shot the next time on the 427? I never hear anything about these. Are they obsolete or superceded by something else? I'll assume the thin grooves on the ends are for potential coolant leaks? I guess if breached the coolant is to flow out past the head and intake? Why would the end head bolt holes be teardrop shaped? There is also the crossover port in the 9781's.
