I would do a running compression test. Pull one plug and install your compression guage and start the engine up. Do all 8 and compare. This will tell you more about the cylinder sealing than a leak down under loads. Also if you are running a vacuum pump disconnect it and see how much crank case pressure builds. Good luck.

Hi Jay, Is there an engine in house that you have tested before that you could re-test and see if it was showing a different power level?

The last two suggestions are good ones, but unfortunately I'm just plain out of time to keep screwing around with the engine on the dyno. I think I have a better chance of sealing the internal leak when the engine is in the car, and the radiator and fans are hooked up properly so I can run it for an extended period with the ceramic sealer in the cooling system. So, I'm just going to install the engine and get the car together, and see what happens. After Drag Week I can run a test engine on the dyno to see if that is the problem, and pull this engine back out for more dyno work and development of the sheet metal intake.

On our race cars we dont run any pressure in the cooling system. We cut the rubber off of the the radiator cap. We run the coolant slightly low for expansion. I know you have a puke tank so that will take care on any extra coolant. We have to top off sometimes other than that no issues.

I've never seen an engine be down this much power without exhibiting SOME kind of symptom, usually blatantly obvious. This one *sounds* great, like a million bucks, and it's using the same quantity of fuel at the same AFRs as last year's engine. Datalogs are clean, no weirdness there, a pull from this year looks just like a pull from last year - only 150-200hp short...?
I hate to be the "Blame the Dyno!" guy - but dang, I am having a hard time finding anything else to be wrong. Sorry you're having such a difficult year Jay!!
All the suggestions here are good ones, much appreciated, keep 'em coming because we all miss things sometimes.
