i have a holley carb i picked up and its supposed to be a 850 but the list #4779-2 says 750dp. is it for sure a 750 since it says this on the choke horn?

It is a very common 750CFM double pumper.

For there to be any hope for a carb to be a 850, it has to have 1.75 throttle bores.

The 750/780's have 1.688 bores.

The regular 850 Double Pumpers are List 4781, as mentioned, List 4779 is a 750 DP.
