I looked more closely at the video.  It's pretty clear that the cams are wrong.  The base circle is way too small:

For reference, here's what actual SOHC cams should look like:

That also explains why the heads had to be clearanced for the cams.  Given this starting point, I would bet that both cams have the same profile grind, as opposed to the correct "backwards" grind on the (edited) driver's side.

+1 on what Jay said.  Those big rollers are not the way to go.  For a high HP build that will see any real sustained rpm, those adjustable rockers need to be gone as well.  Race cammers used non-adjustable rockers for a reason.

Steve must have gotten some cams made off of incorrect blanks.  And yeah, he's not going to make the kind of HP that even the Top Fuel SOHC's made back in the day.

Lets hope it didn't give him explosive diarrhea. That would be the $h!ts

That's funny  ;D ;D  It makes me think of the latest mod I made to my coffee machine:

By the way, Heo.  I wonder what else is hiding under the floorboards in your house!  Your dad sounds like he was a real character  :o

Oh man!  I'd say you did get away fairly lightly though.  That could have gotten a lot uglier pretty quickly  :(

Put another quarter in and hit the Start button!  I think most of us have been there in one form or another.  Sorry to see that un-shiny area on that pretty crank!

It does seem to have adjustable rockers.  Maybe a 390 PI?  Too bad...

We also did a pair of two-valve turbocharged V-12's when I was at Ford in the early 90's.  One went into the GT-90 show car, and the other went into a tire-melting Lincoln Town Car (!!)

The engines each used a pair of T-Bird Super Coupe ECU's.  The blocks and heads were welded-up 4.6L V8 pieces, done by famous Detroit welder Chris Razor.  The cranks, cams, intakes, and exhaust (headers) were custom, and everything else was pretty much stock Modular.  Our chief engineer got the project through Corporate by calling it a "Welding Feasibility Study"  ;D ;D

Great score!  You're doing it right.  I'd build the 427 block as a stroker with minimal overbore.  That setup with TFS heads should easily support 600 HP reliably.  I'm sure Brent will chime in with a good cam suggestion for that car combo.

Welcome to the asylum!

This takes me back to fun times!  I learned a lot of the same lessons spinning up that cammer head.  More spring is not always your friend, and you want to set the full open coil clearance pretty tight to keep things under control  :D.

That is a wicked cool engine.  With that much piston speed, I imagine it can't spend very much time at those stratospheric revs.

I assume that was an eco protester?  Yesterday a story came out of Germany where a bunch of Just Stop Oil protesters glued themselves to the floor of a Porsche dealership showroom.  They were demanding a 100 km/hr national speed limit  ::)

The dealership guys handled it quite well!  They ignored the idiots and just locked up the dealership for the night.  The next morning the poor victims were crying about no food and no toilets!  Imagine that - something real to complain about.

I remember when I lived in Michigan I was friends with some guys who liked to hunt on private land in the Fall.  A group of protesters found out about their hunting trip, and decided to follow them deep into the woods while banging pots and pans.  What they hadn't planned on was the hunters setting up camp in the woods that night, and it was going to be 25 deg F (-4 deg C).   The poor victims got to enjoy a night out in the open with no food  ;D
