I just don't think I am pulling much air, fan blades are ~1" back from the rad. face and it has to pull through radiator and condensor, and even the oil cooler for part of it and like I said shroud is a home brew not sealed well to the fan blades.


Where the fan sits in the shroud opening (about half in and half out) is more important than how close the fan is to the radiator.  In a car, you may not have the room for proper spacing of a belt driven fan within the shroud and kinda need an electric fan

Besides spinning the fan faster, pulley choice will spin the water pump faster which may or may not help your scenario.

Is your crank pulley equal or bigger than your fan pulley?  Going from an under drive crank pulley to a direct drive made enough improvement for me.

You can usually remove any lifters with the intake in place if you have a factory intake....maybe not with an aftermarket intake.

A push rod rubbing the valley splash shield will sound like lifter noise.

If you have space, a cheapo harber freight shop press works fine to install.

Only leaking issue I've ever had was pre-bent and pre-flared stainless steel lines.  I believe that was due to the hardness of the stainless steel.  Tighten, loosen, retighten the leaky connections about 20 times stopped the leaks.  I would not flare that myself because it requires annealing to prevent cracks. 

I normally use the EZ bend copper nickel line.  It's the easiest to bend and flare and it's very resistant to road salt.

For oil pressure line, I got part number 5723K601 from McMaster Carr.  It's oil resistance hose wrapped in a stainless steel braid and rubber anti-abrasion outer layer in pretty blue color.  Got it with 1/8 NPT ends.  Also got an oil gauge from McMaster Carr at the same time.  The hose is rated for -65F to 275F and plenty of pressure.

I realize you're half way into it and I'm kinda late, but some rental places have "concrete buggies".  Gasoline powered and haul about 1/4 of a yard per trip.  They'll haul from the street to the backyard and such.  Sometimes concrete delivery trucks charge you if you move too slow so have a helper.

I believe the gear vendor is 0.78:1, fwiw. 

Also, the electronic controller that comes with the gear vendor will not let you use it in all gears.  The output shaft has to spin a minimum speed to build enough fluid pressure or it won't shift to overdrive.  I guess that could be bypassed so you could have overdrive in the lower gears and even reverse but that would likely wear on the gear vendor.  Not sure how TomP gets the gear vendor to shift in all gears with the T19.  I can only use it in 3rd and 4th which happens to be where I need overdrive for towing.

I really like the gear vendor behind my np435 in my pickup though I would prefer a 5 speed or better yet a 6 speed if I could find one to mate to my FE with the gears I want so I could have just one gear box instead of two.  The tremecs would be great if I wasn't towing anything...their 1st is too fast.

We have a 2kw Honda.  It’s the cats meow.  It’s very quiet, easy to move, and easy to maintain.  Use it mostly camping and it will run the house refrigerator or furnace…probably enough for many people.

We also have a 6kw diesel.  It’s easy on fuel, is a solid work horse, and I feel safer with diesel jugs than gas jugs.  But…it’s dang loud and I wouldn’t even consider getting it if I didn’t have a few places to work off old diesel.  I’ve started it in 10 degrees but I am not confident I could start it in sub zero temps. We have it wired to run the whole house except the AC and dryer.

Parents have a 15 kw pto driven that runs on their tractor.  It cost less than my diesel generator because it does not have its own engine.  It runs the whole house…water pump, electric water heater, dryer, etc.  Great if you have enough tractor.

Our house and parents have double throw knife switches to separate generator and power company making it impossible to back feed.

I can understand your reasoning because in general "like dissolves like".  However, I've never seen silicone dielectric grease hurt any kind of rubber.  I use it on all spark plug boots, brake slide pin boots, intake plenum gaskets, and anywhere else I want to stop rubber from drying out.

For suspension bushings, I can understand products like fluid film, brake fluid, and diesel fuel softening suspension bushings but not engine oil...that's kinda weird. 

I learned (almost the hard way) that diesel fuel is bad for coolant lines.  Volkswagen ran a coolant line under the lift pump on my wife's diesel car.  The lift pumped leaked just enough to turn the coolant line into mush.   You'd think they'd see that coming.  I rerouted the new coolant line.

I cannot speak to the hp savings though I found out an underdrive pulley caused my wipers to move slow while sitting at stoplights with the headlights on.  Also, the coolant warmed up a little at stoplights on hot days.  Since I have a truck and not racing, I replaced the underdrive crank pulley with a larger pulley.  Now the coolant stays the same or cools slightly idling and the wipers maintain speed with the lights on while idling. 

If I remember correctly, my crank pulley and water pump pulley are now 1:1.

Unless your crankcase ventilation is sucking a lot of oil, I wouldn't think you'd need a catch can with carburetors or port injection.  If you're seeing build up on your valve stems, you're likely sucking enough oil to overwhelm any catch can.

With direct injection (like my wife's volkswagen diesel) I installed an aftermarket catch can.  Before I did that, the inter cooler was acting like a "catch can".

I like my roller for a couple reasons
- Provides freedom of oil choice.  Call me crazy but my economy went up 0.5 mpg switching from a top name hi zinc oil to a modern synthetic blend.
- Hope others can chime in here but I feel my roller provided a broader power band than my older flat tapped engine had…excellent near idle grunt and respectable upper mid range hp (over 1 hp per cube) from the same cam.
