Promaxx is not a crappy company and is actually quite good for 1400.00 a set complete and out flow Edelbrock.  I’ve seen several set of the SBC version at 780.00 complete through my shop and they’re really nice, no tight valve guides out of the box , port throats match the seats . I think you referring the old Pro Comp stuff , Scott Foxwell has some Chevy BB and FE Promaxx that turn out nice . If someone is on a tight budget and don’t need 330 cfm they’re excellent choice

^^^ This.

The Promaxx heads are a good cost effective proposition.... quality does not seem to have the variance issues the Aluminum Eddy heads have been suffering of late. I just picked up a set for my SB Mopar 360, they are still sitting in the box waiting for my head guy to free up some time to go through them. But most people I hear have laid hands on them mirror what was said above... you can boltem' on with fair confidence.

Here's the plumbing nightmare.  Does anyone have a schematic for the prop valve? Think I just might redo all this guys work.  I need a rear brake line now too.  Oh the joys of working on old csrs.

I believe that is just a distribution block and housing for the brake warning light switch. On my 67 Fairlane (distribution block looks very similar) the actual prop. valve is on the passenger side attached to the frame rail just behind the engine compartment.

^^^ Glad you got it fixed.  Electrical issues can be a major headache.

Two weeks ago I got the ride of shame home on the flatbed. Was running round with my son enjoying the weather and stopped to top off gas prior to going back home. Hopped in and no electrical at all. No dome light.. no horn.. no ignition.. no dice. WTF! Thing was running fine 10 minutes before. Batt.. cables and fuses all good. /scratch-head

Long story short. I've owned this car 25 years and never noticed the previous owner had taken the 2 wires from the hot side of the firewall solenoid and combined them with a 3rd. Hooked them together with a small screw, electrical taped the entire setup up & hidden it under the battery tray. The 3rd wire went through the amp meter on the aftermarket Sunpro 3 gauge set and back to the hot side of the solenoid. So all the 12v electricity (interior and ignition) was going through the amp meter! Found it when I was chasing the circuits back with the schematic. Guess I should be thankful it farted out closer to home and not at a meetup a hundred miles from home.   :o

Bump ya. If you don't mind me asking.. which valve covers did you end up going with? I have similar rig with brake booster.

I 86'd the power steering from my 67 Lane completely. With headers, fitment issues and the system nearly always leaking I'd simply had it. Ripped it all out and spent $150 on one of these:

Never looked back. If you have low profile tires there will be few places you will miss power steering.

Freshened up the 390 in my 67 lane seven or so years back almost identical to what you are describing. It was a budget tight build as well.  Heavy car with stock C6 and open 3.00 rear. Thread is here:

Photobucket wants $$$ now.. I'll need to update the photos. Anyway..

Bottom end .030 with nothing else to write home about but oil mods you can do yourself.  Rebuilt stock cast heads.

Went with the Comp 268H cam kit.. came with correct springs etc. Double roller Ford racing chain & FPA tri-y headers with Dynomax mufflers. Original Streetmaster intake. Added the MSD ignition later. 600cfm holley vacuum secondary carb.

It's a cruiser as well. Fun zone starts over 2800rpm if you are getting on it but peters out fast over 5300rpm or so. Lots of vacuum (over 13 easy) and easy to manage. Nice low rumble.

Here is a video I took just after getting the exhaust done:

Runs great on 91 California blend pump gas.

this is what she looks like now parked behind the all original Trail 50 I tried to swap my buddy for..  ;)

I'm not for cutting springs. Know to many folks who have done it ( and probably done it wrong to boot) and it made them miserable. Drop spindles and maybe a fatter sway up front?

^^^ Damn that does look nice.

I had to put a double v-belt pulley on my alternator, car came with AC and power steering stock so I already had double on the water pump. The flex fan was just too much resistance for a single and the belt would squeal like a banshee when I got on the gas. Wonder if the single v-belt from these guys would do any better. The power steering and AC are long gone. Looks great and the tensioner looks really handy.

What cubic inch engine, and what carburetor?  Those air dams in the corners are there to cause the air/fuel to have a longer runner for more velocity and therefore helping low speed torque.  A 352/360 should be just fine with the manifold as cast.  If you have a larger engine, then the modification will help the upper rpm power for sure, and should be noticeable off idle.  A gasket match at the same time will help even more.  Joe-JDC

Thanks Joe.. mild 390 with 600cfm Holley vac sec carb.

Think I paid in that range for mine about 7 years ago...  $175~$200. It was untouched. Just had a bit of surface crud on it.. wire brush and a shot of aluminum colored paint and on it went.

Never did the mod. I'll be taking mine off to reseal the china rails.... seeping cork out.. bead of rightstuff incoming. Worth it to do the mod while it's off?

Private Classifieds / Couple of Holley Double Pumpers 600 & 750
« on: July 06, 2019, 07:06:07 PM »
Hi all, first time posting in this section so if I'm committing any party fouls feel free to comment.

Went through some experimentation before I figured my 67 Lane liked a vacuum secondary carb. The 750 was too much and the 600 was close but no cigar as well. They are not doing anyone any good collecting dust. Both worked as expected at the time I removed them. Posters here have a better idea what these are worth than I do so feel free to shoot me an offer at amdscooter@gmail.com.

First up is a 600cfm 4776c. Bought August 2017, probably just over a year. have original box & will include everything in photo (new choke cable & brackets).

Second is a 750 bought probably 7 years ago. Was in the car at least 5 years. If I can locate the original box I'll send it, no promises though as I searched the garage today and no luck. Will ship with what you see in photo, carb only.

Posted my experience with the 8595 some time back when I reassembled my 390. Could not get it to drop in.. was really tight. Original dizzy would drop right back in. Examined the 8595 and was pretty sure it was shipped with the incorrect gear. Called MSD.. they did reply promptly. Guy I got to speak with treated me like I did not know diddly-doo. Ended up saying it was probably due to core shift... not our issue. Got off the phone and ordered a stock replacement gear from MSD. It arrived a few days later.. I installed it and the dizzy dropped right in. Been running it w/o issue for just shy of 7 years now.
