FE Technical Forum / Question on carb price

This may not be the place to ask, I got a friend that purchased a 750 Holley double pumper carb that appears to be NOS, in a bunch of a parts lot. It appears unused and has no box, It has some shelf ware but looks dull. I`m wondering what it might be worth? He said to make a reasonable offer. Any Ideas?

FE Technical Forum / Roller cam and lifters for a 410-tow engine?

 Been rethinking about the cam and lifter debacle with flat tappet cams. I been reading about the latest rash of cam and lifter failures and wondering if it would be worth the time and money involved to switch now that I`m getting close to building the engine. I`d like some opinions. This motor will be used to tow and drive daily as well as a work truck. It`s a 64 F 350 flat bed with a Sterling rear and a 5 speed over drive or a C6 tranny. Still working on the Tranny choice, Opinions?

Member Projects / New engine for my tow truck

I need a little help picking a cam for my  truck that will haul my Galaxie and Tbolt wagon. Its a 64 F350 flatbed that I`m putting together. Current plan are a rear end swap to a Sterling 10.25 rear 4.11 gears 5 spd Clark OD tranny and a 410 Merc that I`m rebuilding. I`m looking for a low to mid range powerband engine speed. Highway speed to around 60-65 mph. I have stock 410 heads and a couple of stock 4bbl manifolds to choose from. Not looking for a drag truck but more of a work / daily driver. Some input here?

I finally got to see a new 7.3 in the flesh.  local wrecking yard got a new truck what a neat rig, they fired it up so I could hear it run / Sweet. now if it only was a standard. Got me thinking of a motor swap in my 64 tonner, humm......

 I need a big imput 1 3/8 clutch arm for my 63 galaxie or a standard 63/64 galaxie big block arm. I can make the smaller one work with some metal work. Have done it before.

Member Projects / Ansen cast steel bellhousing opinions please

 I`m about ready to put the new 427 TP motor in my 63 Galaxie. I have three choices for the bell housing, 1 a stock FOMOCO cast unit,2 an Ansen cast steel NHRA approved unit that I got many yrs ago. 3 a Lakewood that I got in a trade yrs ago. I don`t think the Ansen was ever used, no marks on the bolt holes from wrenching it down. I know the car is not legal for class but I built it for fun at the strip and street. The motor will be a high rever  with a few bursts in to the 65-7000 range. I`m undecided on which bell to use. Any advice guys?
