Non-FE Discussion Forum / Unexpected meeting Sunday
« on: April 29, 2026, 11:06:11 AM »
So I headed over to Sears Point last Sunday, they had a TransAm race along with some Historic stuff, including the Historic Stock Car Racing Association. Some friends have a Joe Gibbs/ Bobby Labonte car, and I was buying a Vertex from one of them. They had a 12 lap Stock Car race in the morning, and another as the last race of the day. Some pretty good iron around, a Petty car, Dale Jr., Ricky Rudd, Bill Elliot t-Bird, and the "Cole Trickle" car from the movie. In the morning session, I hear the announcer, several times, say "Bill Elliot picks up another position". What? Who? The Elliot Bird is not passing anyone, near the rear. Saw a car with a different paint scheme, but #9- and it's moving. Passed 2 cars in the hairpin Turn 11 to take 2nd. I head over to my friend's pit and ask, what is that a different Bill Elliot, or ? No, it's The Man, he's right over there! He's killing all of us! I head over there, there's a cluster of 6 cars being fussed over, including the off-color #9, that turned out to be a Chase Elliot car from 2010. One of the old Birds is on display. A golf cart pulled up next to me, and it's Awesome Bill himself- hey, how you doing? Just one of the guys, checking details and getting his game face on. So the last race started, and this time he's on the pole. 1st lap he has a 6-second lead, 2nd lap about 15 seconds, 3rd lap, the announcer says "and Bill Elliot is... gone". Lapped his 1st two cars on Lap 8, a couple more the next lap, lapped half the field in 12 laps- think that 70-year old can't still drive? He put on an incredible show, fast and smooooth

Private Classifieds / 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente Hardtop SOLD
« on: April 11, 2026, 10:31:31 AM »
1965 Comet Caliente project car. Was intended to be a street/strip A/FX or gasser type. Seats and carpeting have been removed. Straight and solid body with extra parts- has the stock steel hood, plus the Crites double snorkle fiberglass hood, and an extra trunk lid. The intention was to remove the shock towers, install a straight axle, and rear half tube frame with 4-link suspension and a narrow 9 inch rearend. Car still has its stock suspension, power steering and disc brakes. Not included, but available separately, is an Alston pre-welded "back half" tube frame set up for 4-link, and a complete parallel spring solid axle from a 56 Ford pickup. Shock towers were going to be removed for installation of a 427 FE engine (a 460 type engine could also be used). Car has a good title with a non-op. Located in Napa CA  $3200
I forgot, I also have fiberglass bumpers in addition to the Crites dual-snorkle hood

Ported Edelbrock Victor 427 with Dominator flange, and Pro Systems 1150 Dominator. I am never going to use them, just love the 2x4 stuff. Ports measure about 1.4" x 2.4", plenum is cleaned up. Bolt holes good, good general condition. Want to run Super Gas or fast brackets with your Ford FE? Intake went 9.70's on a 470" FE with ported Edelbrock heads in a Fox Mustang. $900 for the Victor, $700 for the 1150 Dominator, plus shipping

FE Technical Forum / Cruiso/C6 swap in a ragtop with console shifter
« on: October 04, 2025, 02:15:26 PM »
Have any of you Mudhens successfully replaced the Cruiso with a C6 in a '62 or similar Galaxie XL ragtop (Sunliner etc.) with a console shifter? Wondering about length, shift arm for the console shifter, crossmember for the convertible frame etc. I have a few Cruiso's around, but also have a couple nice C6's. TIA

Looking for a single Speed Pro H395P + .020 piston. Have one that lost a keeper and scored the cylinder just enough to need a sleeve, and the piston is lightly dinged in the keeper groove, no other damage. Been searching around and full sets are available, just need a source for just one. TIA

Private Classifieds / 1957 Ford Courier Sedan Delivery
« on: March 20, 2024, 09:53:13 AM »
1957 Ford Courier Sedan Delivery, second owner, original to Sacramento. The gal I got it from rode home in it with her dad when he bought it in the fall of '56, and she and her husband took it on their honeymoon. Original 223 six-cylinder runs, has 3 spd on the column. Pretty much all original, dog dish hub caps etc., appears to have been repainted once. Seat has been reupholstered and looks good. Car will run and drive but needs brakes, wheel cylinders are shot from sitting in storage. Clean title on Non-Op. I have many extra parts to go with it, including a complete station wagon two-piece tailgate, taillight lenses, bumpers etc. More parts I accumulated for it (not included at this point) can be negotiated- I have an 80's toploader 3+1 OD trans, a 1970 R11 3spd with OD from an F100, nice FPA headers for FE engine, bellhousings, C6 auto etc. Also have a new repop set of 15x7 Magnum 500 wheels, and a set of Mustang Bullitt 17" wheels. Also could supply a fresh 390 or 428. Was jazzed about this one and gathered a lot of stuff for it, was going to put a 427 in it, and then picked up that hot rod 56 Bird, something has to go, have too many. Your mural or business name will look great on this one. $12,000   In 94558
