Rory 428, how long does the fuel last in the drum? Would it continue to pass NHRA fuel check?
I’m currently using C25 (didn’t notice any difference from C12). I have been purchasing 5gallon cans at the track for just under $100 (US🙂) I get about 1 run per gallon in my stocker also.
Fred Moreno and a few other stock racers suggested using the C25.

Ray Paquet has been 8.42 @ 159mph at around 3,070lb. Has to be over 1,000hp or really close.

Ladder bar cars should extend leaving the line not squat. I had ladder bars and coil overs on my super-gas mach1. It hooked up real well with 14.5x32 slicks at 6 1/2 pounds of air pressure. It had Koni shocks with coil over springs on the front and had only couple of inches of upward travel. I would start with the bottom bar parallel to the ground and the middle shock setting and then test from there.
Sounds like a fun project.

Dumping this fresh oil will be painful for me but I guess I could do it. My plan was to dump it after a dyno test. I can find Valvoline VR1 in either 10W-30 or 20W-50. I don’t see that they make 10W-40.

Also, for some reason, the 10W-30 has less zinc and phosphorus than the 20W-50. Any guidance on minimum amounts?  Is the 1100 ppm zinc and 1000 ppm phosphorus good enough?

Fresh oil, recycle into your other car, lawn mower etc.
Did you use new pop shafts with rockers? Not sure why you would need to hone them. The last set I had fit fine out of the box.
I use 10-30 VR1 in my stocker engine with a little looser clearances, oil restrictors to the heads and I have the same pressures as Rory.

When I find it, I use permanent marker on the crank and flexplate to make it simple to R&R.

Fryedaddy and 6667fan, I don’t know if 6667fan uses the thin drag race rotor on the front of his car but at the weights we’re running I would recommend using the vented rotors on the front. I would be a little worried about heat warping a thin rotor and the stopping procedure described by 6667fan is probably best. The thin drag fronts are better suited for light weight race cars.

Rory, I run their oval shaped master. Have tried both 7/8” & 15/16” bores. Wilwood calipers on all corners. Car does not stop great. ( have to use second return road option at the track). No booster
I have the same set up on the Mustang (Shelby) stocker. I run vented street rotors on the front drag race rotors on the back. No booster 15/16” mc and I make the first turn out real easily at Bakersfield. Car stops real well it weighs 3,275 running about 128 in the quarter. Maybe your track has a short first turn or your car is heavier? I ran a ‘67 3,100lb Mustang coupe with 4 wheel drum brakes and at around the same speed I couldn’t make the first turn outs. Getting it slowed down was an eye opener 😬

Added 120lbs to make A weight at Bakersfield scale. Played around with timing and jets and got it back to the same et’s before adding weight. Only about 12 runs on car and there should be more especially with better weather.

Sure don’t like that car coming head on in the shut down area.  Is that the return lane? Looks dangerous to me. What if some lost their brakes or got crossed up in the shut down area.

I agree as far as the MSD stuff goes. We have a digital 6AL-2 box , with the MSD billet comp distributor. If we set the rev limiter to 6500 RPM. It will only let the engine go to maybe 6000 RPM. To shift at 6300 we have to set the limiter at 6700. They say it should be on the money, but it's not. It's kind of frustrating.
Clint

I was told that’s normal for the MSD to start pulling spark before the setting. It’s trying to limit it from going over and if it only started pulling at the exact setting it probably would remove a lot at once which would be real hard on the engine. I moved mine up just like you did.

I think I misspoke now that Jay mentioned it, I think it was the shorter fitting not narrower. I used rubber hose and clamps and it's a little more challenging getting the clamps on and a good seal.

Yeah, I had to get a smaller diameter fitting because of the same problem. Then you have to find a hose that works with the smaller diameter. I think I have a part number of the hose I used somewhere if you need it.
Did you repair the heads? Or going with your new production ones after they’re finished?

Put a set of stock eliminator springs on there and let it rip!
