I think it have been among the worst winter i can remember. Cold with overcast for weeks in a row
verry few days with clear sky -40 for several days in a row.
Usualy march is clear sky with cold nights and sunny days with abow freezing but not this year
Thursday was sunny with +6 celsius but the wegot overcast with 10 inch of snow this weekend

Funny thing, today when i came home from the shop the snow was shoveled from the front porsh
I thought the wife had done it but....It was Jehovahs Witnesses that had done it :o ;D ;D

That's nice!!  Good detail work with the mill to get that pocket in there  :D

It was some delicate work with just a manual mill. had a old badge i cut the pins of, blacked the tips of the fins with a sharpie
scribed around the badge and milled up to the line by carefully manipulated the feeds manualy

All good points.

Wait? What, what.....what just happened here?
Did Frank just agree with Bill and Brent?
Where am I? What has happened to this place?  ;D

I get the serrated cap concept, but don't like the idea on a steel rod. Just like the 'cracked caps' they use on today's engines, they are a one and done deal. For an aluminum rod, they make good sense.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes here was the solid porcelain on powerlines black or darkbrown on the outside white inside
Dont remember what was on telephone lines
I think i have a couple insulators somewhere in the barn.If i found them i can send you and Doug one eash if you
want an Swedish insulator to the collection
One of the last powerlinepoles still standing was actaualy in my yard.
when i came home from a journey to USA i saw a pole layng i my yard ??? ??? what hapened here ??? ???
Then i saw the powerline ower to the neighbour was gone.

The day after, when i cut the lawn the mower hit something hard, the hub for the rotary blade split. It was the crimping pliers for the conections
the lineworkers had dropped.
Perfect for crimping conectors on the cabel to the starter and groundwires
It have a rotary wheel with i think six different dimensions
I decided i borrow it from them untill they ask for it :) Then if they give me a new hub for the blade they can have the crimper

Nice Shady 8), They are 59 Fords on the transport?
The things in the window, is that different insulators from powerlines?

Yep, those are power line insulators. Got a collection of them myself. Kids today would probably think they're butt plugs.
[/quote]

LOL Butplugs ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Here we only got one Power company, the Goverment owned. So only one type of insulators
But many years since the powerlines was dug down under the ground.

I found the one to my house when i  dug a pond for the wife in the garden.
The final adjustment sweep in one corner with the bucket, could have dun it with a shovel but naaah.

Just when i saw it hanging over the corner of the bucket BAAAM and a shower of sparks :o :o
and all the neigbour was powerles. Had to call out the powercompany on a weekend, became a damn expensiv pond for its size :o :o :'(

Tonka, one of the best things to ever come out of the great state of Minnesota.

The name still exists, but Hasbro Toys bought the Tonka Toy Company out in 1991, closed the MN headquarters and moved manufacturing to Rhode Island.  The toys are all plastic these days.  Capitalism tends to punish companies that build consumer products that last for 3 generations or more.

Building Tonkas out of plastic :o what a sacrilege. The ones responsibel for that must be brougt in front of a jury of us.....mature boys
and severly punished >:(.
I had the loader and the roadgrader we built quite a big systems of roads, used tincans with both ends removed as culverts
The best dirt to build roads we found were the sistern dad had for tractor Diesel. That dirt mixed with  leaked and spilled Diesel
was claylike you could form balls out of it.
Poor mother loved when i came in after a hard days work on the roads with clothes impregnated with Diesel
