FE Technical Forum / FE in a 65 Fastback thread
« on: June 13, 2024, 06:52:41 PM »
Wasn’t there a member here that stuffed a FE into an early 65-66 Mustang?
I did a search and nothing came up and couldn’t find the thread . If anyone remembers the thread or link would be appreciated

Wiped a new mechanical flat tappet Comp cam in 15 minutes on a 429 , 294S magnum feeling a little aggrevated , second Comp flat tappet wipe out in two weeks , two different vehicles as one was a SBC , one a customer the other a employee . switching both to roller
What brand roller cam and roller lifters do you recommend for street ? not sure if I want anything from Comp ?

Would like to hear thoughts , expected HP numbers and flow numbers about the new High Rise head from Pond . I have seen pictures on FB and know someone that purchased a set but haven't heard any flow bench numbers or heard of any options on them . I do like the looks of the twisted chamber design ( in the pictures I've seen ) for being severely limited in creativity with a NHRA legal head it's clever and do know it requires the matching intake manifold for the raised floor ( raised a 1/2 inch maybe not sure ?)

Thanks , Eric

I'm probably 25 to 30 miles from there and thinking of getting the Fairlane out if the weather looks good . I do need to install my new MSD dist pickup as it hard to start but fine if it does start ( signal is weak during cranking )and will have to have some dry weather because I have no wiper motor and my drag radials don't have any tread on them so a couple of big if's and I'll be there

« on: March 12, 2018, 10:43:48 AM »
Does anybody know what Ford set them at ??.. There is quite a bit of adjustment and this Car came in pointed down in the back/rear following roof line and looks funny , is there a recommended base line setting ?? does it even work or just decoration and not matter  ?? This car does see 130 plus mph on occasion

thanks , Eric

which method would you use Jay , or anybody ?? ...... had a valve job done and don't like my rocker geometry , a heli-coil pulled out on the rocker shaft when going together so it's coming apart for some inserts , thought I would get the geometry right

anybody ever run there crankcase evacuation set up through the intake fill tube to header collector ??..... thoughts ?? ... Jay ??

installing baldy's valve covers , had cobra valve cover and a crank case breather in each of the valve covers , now need to move my breather somewhere else ...... was thinking of running one breather from my fill tube and then Y connect to each header collector , it would be one breather instead of two like the cobra valve covers but was worried about sucking oil .......

last resort would be install the breathers into the Baldy valve covers but would rather not do/modify the valve covers , but also don't want to blow oil into my exhaust system

thanks , eric

I have a beautiful Dove meduim riser spyder 4150 intake in absolute perfect condition , one of the nicest Dove intake castings I have seen , ported by Joe D Crane with a average flow of 435.9 CFM , no thread repairs , no welding or epoxy ... very nice intake!!

.... Holley HP Pro series 4150 carburetor model number 80514-1 1000 cfm annular booster carb (carb cost 800.00 new), carb is in perfect condition with no issues , runs great and is currently on my 63 fairlane but switching to meduim riser 2x4 , can't afford to have laying around ..... 1100.00 dollars for intake and carb plus shipping from 45370

call 937-689-9363 , thanks for l@@king , Eric

Member Projects / 1963 fairlane gets its first street gear
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:36:18 PM »
after 17 years I decided to put my first street gear ratio in the Fairlane .... I ve had 4.86 , 4.56 and 4.11 gears but this is the first time I ever installed a 3.?? something gear and Detriot locker ...... I bought one of those Nascar gears from Rich at FE dot com , a 3.70 Richmond gear with the REM finish on it (looks like a chrome gear), bought a used locker a few years back and finally got around to installing them both and am very pleased with the turn out .... gear is quiet and locker works great , smoother than the shimmed up posi I had for street previously ..... with a 29.1 tall tire 2500 rpm is 55mph and 2950 rpm is 70 mph , basically a 450 rpm drop from my 4.11's ..... also seems to bring the coolant temp down a little lower at cruise rpm with my 1/2 filled bock so thats a plus too , the 2.78 first gear top loader still takes off good in traffic with the 3.70's inspite of a Dove single 4 intake , big 266/276 at .050 cam and 13 pound aluminum flywheel :) ... maybe not the average cruiser but its the most cruiser its ever been since I built it ......

my next project, I'm looking foward to installing my med 2x4 intake and 600 Holley's to pick up the low end power and fuel mileage .... the last two tank fulls of gas were 6.8 and 6.6 miles per gallon with the 4.11 gear , so we will see what the 3.70 does for mileage here in a few weeks , would love to see 12 plus mpg with the 2x4's , that would be a 100 percent increase in fuel mileage ...lol

FE Technical Forum / FE/OT .... does anybody have 9 inch rear specs
« on: September 18, 2012, 07:05:24 PM »
not sure if this post belonged here or not ??... sorry Jay if it doesn't ...... getting ready to instal my 3.70 street gear and Detroit locker , can't find my info on tightening spec's .... didn't know if there is a good web site to get 9 inch torque specs , Pinion nut with solid spacer torque , main cap torque (N case) and ring gear torque spec with locker

thanks in advance , Eric
